blatt is a STRONG coach because i know he CAN COACH. i only pick luke cuz he knows the triangle and thats what phil wants. i think phil and blatt would bump heads. blatt has a large enough ego where he would appreciate and run the triangle but he would also mix in his (magnificient) HIGH CHIN princeton-like offense.

Ok, but how do they bump heads when he can't sign a contract with the Knicks unless he agrees with the prerequisite application to even get the job?
first sentence from phil is: "Dave, happy Passover! You down with the triangle, the whole triangle and nothing but the triangle?"
I mean, why would they bump heads? Maybe Blatt is not only down with it, but would love to implement it elsewhere but where there is something different there are detractors who speak of what they not know?
Ignorance breeds fear. Ignorance of the triangle creates fear. Creates doubt.

Phil won't care as long as the team is winning. People have to understand the Triangle is just a means to an end. It's about team play and winning. Adding a few wrinkles that are still focused on movement and passing won't bother Phil at all. He just doesn't want stagnant ball.
i hope so. which brings me to my next and ultimate point...the roster on this team isnt good. it doesnt matter if youre running the triangle, circle or square
jrodmc wrote:What no: Karl, Dantoni, Woodson?
I am 100% of 50% sure that Phil will hire a Mahayana Buddhist monk who will teach the triangle through paradoxical meditation. Book it! But if not..... Rambis.

No roster is gonna be full of good players when they're in the middle of a rebuild but Phil sure as hellz got off to a good start in his first year of making additions with KP, Rolo, J.Grant and D.Williams so now we need Williams to opt in or re-sign and we're on to another off season of hopefully making some more good additions.

Reasonable best case scenario:
** lose Afflalo, Williams
** keep Thomas
** sign Hernangomez
** sign Paul Gasol
** get a quality shooting guard
first team:
Lopez
Porzingis
Anthony
Grant
quality shooting guard
second team:
Gasol
Hernangomez
Thomas
Calderon
Vujacic
Young, gifted and Blatt.....
so basically based on the votes here...it's mutiny if rambo is head coach to start the season?
my choice was luke blatt rambo
Walton isn't coming here.
Thibs and Blatt were the best two options for us.
I think Blatt would be a solid pick. He got to the Finals in his first year and very nearly had a 3-0 lead on the Warriors in the those Finals with no Kyrie or Love. For all the talk about how Blatt was holding them back, I think the Cavs have looked worse this year post-firing of Blatt.

thanks for answering...but not really answering :)
I have no idea if Walton can coach. Much, though not quite all, of coaching at GS for the last couple of years has consisted of "What Steph said." and some of "What Draymond said but more of it." and "Give Klay the ball when Steph is out." and so on . . . Kerr made adjustments and he manages (not all that well at times) various substitutions and, of course, day to day training for the new guys but . . . can Walton coach? You'd think I'd be jumping up and down for the Knicks to hire a coach with a perfect record but . . . it seems to me that GS went on their streak, in part, because the players were self-coaching and didn't have Kerr around thinking long term, to slow them down. You could, I guess, say the same thing about almost any great team, great teams depend on smart self-coaching players, but . . . can Walton coach? Who knows? Blatt can coach. We've seen him mold a team into a better team. Blatt has made decisions that run counter what what his players wanted and they worked out well. Walton just stepped back and let Curry and Green do their thing. Even in timeout huddles . . . Green was usually talking, sometimes Curry, and Walton, maybe half of the time, was just letting them get on with it. Does Walton luv Phil? Seems like it. I guess that's a serious requirement for the Knicks job so . . . maybe he really is the best qualified guy out there.

Answering what? I've said since March that I think Blatt is a logical choice that would make sense because Phil/Dolan would never hire Thibs and I didn't think Walton would leave GSW unless it was for LA.
Blatt is the best choice of what is realistically available.
JVG isn't coming back or he would be my pick.
its all about previous experience with some of you. Blatt is a quality guy with good experience overseas. He has done a great job.
My take on cleveland was he got a raw deal. I also think it was all about Lebron who had been to the previous 5 finals. He even took Mike Brown for a trip. Do you guys want Mike Brown?
Do some of you really hold correlation over the Minnesota job to the knicks and Rambis?
I have no problem with Blatt, but non if the arguments against Rambis really that convincing either.
Thus, If Rambis is Phils choice, Im ok with that. He gets an opportunity.
