Knicks · Is there anything to read into as to why Carmelo missed the triangle practice / seminar? (page 1)

mreinman @ 4/22/2016 3:18 PM
Anyone want to read his mind? I guess there was just no good reason for him to be there?
crzymdups @ 4/22/2016 3:23 PM
This is why I think Blatt will get the coaching job. Dolan isn't gonna just give away Melo to appease Phil.

yeah ... melo (may) not be happy with phil. Should be fun to watch

Melo may feel he just didn't need the seminar. I think Melo is actually good when it comes to the offense. We do have guys that were totally new to the offense and struggled this year and some that are green like Wroten. Nothing really that big about it IMO. It would've been nice for Melo to come but I don't think his missing it says much. Just hope the guys that did come were able to gain something from it.

Melo staying is totally up to him and if he gets tired of it all he has the power to make a change. I don't think Phil and the team are focused on what is good for Melo per se. The team is getting younger and more focused on the kids, which is the right thing to do. Melo can ride along and do his part to help things go smoothly or he can beg off and ask for a trade. Either way the process of developing the younger talent takes priority IMO.

I said this before Melo will not be a Knicks come next year. It's absolutely stupid for him to hang around. He is talking about Windows closing at this moment the Knicks do not have a window. We have rebuilding going on here. If Melo wants a window to playoffs and championship it simply isn't here right now. We are talking about 3-5 years down the line for the Knicks. If Melo is smart he waives that NTC and gets himself to Cleveland, Miami, Clippers or any team that has a window to the playoffs and championship.

I think Melo will ask for a trade, though I hope he does so before our FA moves I suspect he'll wait until after

I think this covers the possibilities without having to resort to mind reading although that is always entertaining.
Checking Google Maps, it seems possible that Melo ducked out early to head to the White Plains Nieman Marcus to pick up a few pairs of classy, stylish FRIGO RevolutionWear underpants.

Then again, it is equally plausible that Melo was there all the time, watching the seminar from high in the rafters while wearing a Phantom of the Opera costume. As a respectable journalist, I'm required to cover all sides of this issue.

We also have to consider quantum mechanics here -- at the subatomic level, Melo may have been at the seminar and somewhere else simultaneously. Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle dictates at that we can never precisely know Melo's position and momentum at the same time.

\sigma_{x}\sigma_{p} \geq \frac{\hbar}{2} ~~

σx represents the standard deviation of Melo's position at the seminar, while σp represents Melo's the standard deviation of Melo's momentum toward or away from the seminar. ħ is the reduced Planck's constant.

So there you have it, folks. Maybe Carmelo Anthony was in attendance, and maybe he wasn't. The important thing to take away from all this is that it doesn't really matter in any way, shape or form.

Unless something tangible happens because of it eh. Last off season all we heard was how Melo hates rookies and young players and was going to force Phil's hand to add veterans. How he hated the KP pick when it happen. How Melo didn't show up to summer league as a sign of defiance. How he was going to sabotage the season.

New off season rinse and repeat.

EnySpree @ 4/22/2016 7:34 PM
I thought it was the joke of the town that Phil had a triangle seminar. Now we find out Melo didn't go and now it's a Melo wants out contain again?

Do we want to talk basketball or talk drama? Like I did before, I think fans follow the Knicks for the drama and not basketball. Enjoy

His mind is reading...the media has too much time on their hands and not enough material for stories. And fans on fan forums really really have way too much spare time reading into them and starting threads about them.

Absolutely nothing at all to read into here except for people that love to hate on the Knicks and the New York media.

WaltLongmire @ 4/22/2016 10:07 PM
I'm just thinking that this type of story is why some players will never want to come to play in NYC...just not worth the BS.

Can't say that I haven't contributed to this kind of thing on this forum in the past, but I do understand why players might not want to put up with it.

jrodmc @ 4/22/2016 11:28 PM
Interesting that someone wrote that Melo saw enough of the triangle during his years in Denver when battling Kobe and Phil.

Of course we all know Melon's too dumb to remember anything from that long ago. And WTF does he think he's going to do in this situation, lead the team in assists or something?

Imagine, the DOUCHE forced his way here so he could deal with this type of BS.

nixluva @ 4/23/2016 12:13 AM
MELO wants Phil to bring in FA's who can make the Knicks a contender. It's doubtful Phil will be able to achieve that this summer. It's not the Triangle or anything trivial that will cause MELO to ask for a trade. It's going to be REALITY hitting him in the face. Knicks will most likely have to take a slower and more long term approach to contending.

If MELO doesn't already understand this it's his fault. Phil has been signaling this for a while. Phil's been adding more youth than older vets who can help MELO win right away. How can Phil convince the elite FA's to ditch better situations to come to a rebuilding team? The odds of it happening are slim. Phil will try but he has to be prepared for it not to happen. So MELO will have a choice to make. Stick with the team and a slower rebuild or ask for a trade.

That's not exactly true. Phil has added older vets left and right. He even adds older rookies. Now will he change his win now aproach to lure free agents in or will he go for a top draft pick, only time will tell.

First off it's silly to quibble over young vets under 30 and rookies when talking about the youth on this team. I wasn't only talking about the players actually on the roster this year either. Some of the old guys won't be back and we'll be adding younger players most likely.
