Man, they're gonna get our last good coach. Who desperately wanted to come back here in recent years.

Why would they contact JVG when Phil is going back to LA at the end of next season.
BRIGGS @ 4/26/2016 9:02 AM
Im fearful they will get Kevin Ollie as hes good friends with KD.
Chandler @ 4/26/2016 9:17 AM
I don't get the JVG love. I would put him in the like category, not love. He has done less, with more talent than many coaches

the one time he achieved it was despite himself (Camby and Spree)

you should be -- he's the best coaching candidate around IMHO

JVG is one of only 3 coaches to take the Knicks to the finals. Regardless of the naysayers, he will hold that distinction.

It would be interesting to see him there as PJax is dating Jeanie BUss and Pjax and JVG do not get along or at least did not while they were coaching.

I think is he does get the job, the Phil to LA rumors can finally stop.

Love the media's take that some how we are missing out on guys.
Phil got in his head what he wants to do. We just are not privy to it.

Regarding Lakers, that handwriting has been on the wall for a long time and its had to be considered when he signed here that a laker Gig would come up.
Problem is as long as Jimmy Buss has ownership and a say Phil won't be welcome nor will he want to be there unless he has control.
He could have put in his contract an out to go west and Dolan could have refused it (Likely) and at the same time I think all think he stays for the duration despite the obvious.

JVG gets lots of interviews and he will likey ask for a lot of control which might turn off Jimmy and Mitch. I don't know how long mitch stays on either.
Walton is obvious but the reality is Lakers future is Russell for now. How this draft shakes out for them depends on the lottery, but one can assume they'll keep their pick. No sure star in this draft and none to make an instant impact.

Does Walton's strength lie in developing younger talent? its a very young team. Does Ollie bring Durant? If so, do they have enough to support him or would they trade for more leadership? Would Westbrook want to "come home"? or, is he wanting to be his own man and not play under the shadow of Durant. What is Randles upside? Trade Clarkson for a veteran?

Lakers are a mess make no mistake about it. Knicks are not much better but they do have Melo/Asset.

Regarding JVG he is a celebrity coach with a good history. Fact is, if some think PHil is out of date with all those rings, the last one "stale" at 6 years old, what about JVG?

This is media at work to create more drama. With Phil, Laker and Knicks connection.

maybe they are trolling Phil?

Maybe Phil realizes that JVG actually did well with the talent he had.

That article didn't reference the Knicks at all. You're projecting onto it.

Did JVG do well outside of that 2 year window NY? I think he lost in the first round every year in Houston. They had tons of injuries, but he kind of flamed out?

I don't see why he would come back unless perhaps its money.

I hated his offense, and felt at the time he underachieved in houston. But in hindsight, I think he did well.

Now - I'm criticizing Phil for perhaps being stuck to an antiquated system, but I don't see how JVG would do in today's NBA. Love to see it, though.
