anyone see the tweet that C. Herring posted. (sorry i dont know how to post tweets).
"my plan is to retire a knick. thats the goal"
That mean he's retiring today?

He looking for another max contract in 2018.
Only Dolan can help with this.
So the goal is reachable.

I hated melo before he became a knick, but how can you hate a guy that wants to be here, is loyal and wants to win, just because he didn't to take this great big pay cut, he gets a lot of hate.
I never knock anybody over making more $
I think MELO should stay. He can ride this out with KP eventually taking over. Things should improve steadily over the next few years.

I want to hear from Melo that he want to win it all with the Knicks and ready to do whatever it takes to accomplish this.
I don't care about his retirement plans. It is his personal business.

No reason it can't be a smooth transition Like D Robinson/Tim Duncan --- as long as they start winning.

Oh, I'm sure you'll find out soon enough.

Exactly. Melo could follow the Paul Pierce trajectory and hopefully get to serious winning at the end of his career. Would be beloved
or......
Melo declares his love to retire a knick. I'll believe it when he "Tat's" it!!!
I put out a theory a scenario where Melo can say this and the team takes the public hit that the team wants to trade him. Given that, how can he stay??
It makes him look good and most fans will get over it. I realize Melo fans buy tickets, but the best way long term is a trade. But, if someone wants to come here to play with Melo AND PorzinGod that's ok.
Melo has something to sell this year.
Melo stay or go? Im good either way. This is entertainment and has to be fun for me.

Exactly right. And i really believe Melo has targeted summer 2017 to convince Westbrook or Chris Paul to join he and KP in NY.

Or Westbrook, CP3 AND KD.

Along with being the ultimate Starphucque Team Deluxe, that would put all those "Rolo should be on the bench" posters at ease.
Imagine all the people...

Ok so how about the comment that he made that i love where he said "winning one championship in New York would be better than winning multiple championships anywhere else"??

If your going to put suspect players around him and expect him to carry the team every night, it's going to be disappointing.. I don't care how good your are, you need someone just as good as melo or better to really win consistently.

Your question was about hate. Not disappointment. Or winning consistently.
Melo's the best individual All Star talent we've had since Ewing, bar none. But he attracts the hate and loathing of some, despite the bolded parts above.
YIPPEE! Put that 7 in the rafters already, he deserves it...
Retire already. If loyalty=wins then Melo can retire as a Knicks unfortunately it doesn't Phil knows he can't get out from that dumb contract he signed Melo to fast enough.

that contract is on phil not on melo.
melo needs to continue passing the ball but he also needs to shoot a much much better pct from the floor. Still too many low pct shots and also too much dead legs. Need to get stronger legs and rest him more.
