that's how a good team would be run. See Spurs as exhibit A

sht! how do you get this inside future info?

Doc asked what people 'saw' as the timeline. He posted what he sees as the timeline. But you can quote it as insider info. It is at least as credible as some of the stuff you quote.

doc?

btw, whats your opinion on phil? straight answer if possible and no rush.

I don't think he is under any pressure from Dolan at all. I don't think he cares what Melo's opinion is and I don't think he makes decisions based on what Melo wants or desires. I don't think he has leaks in his office and I do think that most if not all of the 'rumors' from unnamed sources in the ny tabloids are fiction. I think he blew it with the Fisher hire. I think there was a lot going on that got Fisher fired. I think he is comfortable with Kurt and I think he would love to still coach but can't physically. I think he knows Kurt gives him the best chance to fill his desire to coach if he is kept on. I think if he is struggling to decide on a coach it is because if he goes with someone other than Rambis he looses at least some of his voice as a psuedo coach.

not bad ... pretty fare

do you think that there is any issue with him being so heavily reliant on the triangle?

do you think that even if he does not care what melo says or thinks, that mills and dolan may and since melo has an NTC, that is a problem that phil MAY be forced to deal with (at some level)

do you think that there is a chance that we may have gotten phil the president who was as good as phil the player but no way near phil the coach?

Chandler gave a perfectly acceptable answer. It's all opinion. Question was simply what did people see as the timeline that Melo doesn't fit in, since a couple folks seemed to see that.

I was implying by bringing up the division, conference and league that perhaps there are bigger things at play like the success of our competitors, cap changes, etc. Was an honest inquiry. Don't understand your dig... especially since you yourself are comfortable predicting the career goals of people you only fantasize about ;)

I am only concerned about your first question because it seems to limit who is considered for a coaching position. If he can find a triangle coach that wins then I have no issues with it though.

Crush this is an awesome assessment! I agree 100% Though I do hope he has a chance to commune with Vogel. Having said that, I'm on board with whatever he decides

what would be awesome (but unrealistic) is if Phil could do some Jedi mind tricks on Durant, put down his 11 coach rings, two player rings, get the various assistants to do the same...

Then you have Durant nestled in age-wise between Melo, and KP. A nice pipeline of talent. One can only dream...

Good point. Also, if Rambis is indeed a good friend, and is ready to hire him... when it comes to your HC as a President you also have to be ready to fire them if needed. Maybe he is also soul searching about that. I'm sure he doesn't want to put Rambis in a position where he is forever tainted from being an HC again because he put his trust in Phil and it didn't work out for whatever reason.

I love the nickname Doc btw, it was my grandfather's.

I do hope he is soul searching. Your point about HC is a good one. Rambis can be a permanent fixture as offensive coach or whatever like Herb Williams was for so long. But put him in HC role and it's a differen can of worms.

I would like to imagine a bunch of the assistancts with the OKC roots end up in DC with Brooks, and that Vogel ends up here with Shaw and Rambis and the other inner-circle guys

ESOMKnicks @ 5/7/2016 4:58 AM
I really like Melo, but have to admit that trading him for a pick or a young stud before his value inevitably declines due to age and wear-and-tear APPEARS to be a very good deal. And given that he gets a $9m kicker for waiving his no trade clause, I think if presented with a reasonably competitive situation, he will bolt from here in a New York nanosecond.
But what if this is a repeat of the Bernard King situation, and Melo comes back next season in really awesome shape to become a top scorer in the league again? Ghosts of seasons past and opporunities blown never cease to haunt us.

Nope had we had our pick this season maybe it works out but without a pick it drives the rebuild another season back. We need to be bad next season. Porzingis needs a backcourt running mate
