Im glad no ones thinking along these lines but you

pay melo 125 mill, phil 60 mill, fisher 5 mill...that's almost 200 mill, not one single playoff game in what would be yr 4..great investment

I agree with earthmansurfer. We need another tank job unless Phil gets a lottery picks this year if he does then next year will automatically become a rebuilding year and chances increase to be in Lottery again adding another lottery pick to develop.

Make that 3 of us. I don't mind Rambis back if the intention is to tank it for another stud. Stash that cash and make a BIG TIME run in 2017 lottery and free agency.

Well, all ready 2 others have come forward. But seriously, IF we don't strike gold in FA, what do you suggest? Do we play KP into the ground in a losing environment in the hope of a FA the year after? FA's know his promise, we have NO pick this year, we have to play this right. Hernangomez is going to be something, so not sure how bad we can be, but my initial point is - Rambis is not a great coach. Maybe he can be great in the triangle with the right personell, but we are a bit from that...

Assuming the Knicks are gonna lose next year seems a bit fatalistic. There will most likely be some growth internally and there will be some new additions. We already can expect Wroten and Willy to be added. I'm confident someone will be added in FA. It's very possible that this team can make enough improvements to get on the plus side of wins.

fatalistic? I am not sure any of us feel that way. I see it more as making the most of our few assets. The year after we really need to do well in FA though. KP will be older, Hernangomez will hopefully show some promise and we will have quite a bit of cap space.

so if Phil traded the pick, brought in some veteran players and the Knicks get bounced in the 2nd round that would have showed you something? You strike me as a guy that likes having both sides of the conversation. Knicks could have traded the KP pick, at the very least to Orlando for one of their guards (Victor) and a later pick, and there were 100% other options. Instead he chose to stay pat and yea, the future looks better but it ended in a poor season. So you are cool with trading KP to win now? Because that's what Phil was brought in to do right? All that money should = some playoffs right?

how about realistic? If you are a 37 win team and your big acquisitions are Willy and Wroten you are still a 37 win team. Seeing is believing. When the wins start adding up lets talk. When we sign Durant lets talk. I am always optimistic, but what you see is what you get, and I still see an NBA team with a really bad backcourt

we just got phillys best player to start/star in our backcourt, have a lil faith!

Coaches can't win games for you. If they do everything right, they can put players in a position to win. Coaches can lose games though. They can interact poorly with refs and get technicals. They can misuse timeouts. They can screw up rotations and deny the hot hand. They can destroy player confidence permanently. More than putting players in a position to lose, they can lose. That's before we even start discussing the media. So, if I am not keen on Rambis it's not because be haven't one with him. It's because he put our younger players in a position to lose even when we were statistically irrelevant. That puts doubt in my mind. I do care that his W-L is terrible. So, unless we are tanking again, I want a fresh voice.

Coaching is extremely important. A coach can't make a taleness team get 50 wins but implementing and teaching a system, making sure your team is fundamentally sound, and making constant adjustments is a MAJOR factor.
