Knicks · Another Celtics option: Rolo for Avery Bradly and pick 23 (page 1)

fishmike @ 5/18/2016 6:33 PM
Knicks immediately upgrade the backcourt and buy into the first round. Celtics upgrade with Rolo, draft Buddy and still have pick 16 to work with.

Just to mention, I am not an advocate of trading Rolo. I think he and KP are excellent together. I also think he is by far our best asset (that I am willing to trade, KP untouchable) so I am curious to gauge his value. Also KP will eventually be a center. If he isn't maybe Willy is. Point is simply that Rolo is a nice player but how long term is he for us?

There is definitely a lot of speculation about what the Celts do with all of their picks coming out of Boston. If you haven't tried Slicksports before (its under other stuff on the tool bar) it is definitely worth checking out. Here is the link to the Celtics page with some good stuff from Celtic blogs.

Im all for getting a first rounder but lopez is a good piece to have with KP. If it was a top 15 pick then it could be more tempting

oh I agree. KP's ability to step out and play the 4 makes that combo fantastic. Also Lopez got better as the season went on. I would expect him to continue that upward trend. He showed more and more offense the more touches he got.

I have no desire to trade him, and I think it looks a bit poor to be honest, but he's a nice chip. I wonder what the value is. I think we are a good guard away from being a staple playoff team, but most important is getting a long term rotation around KP. I like Grant and Willy as prospects but they could be anything from core rotation guys to 7th or 8th man in the rotation guys. Time will tell.

he is a nice trade chip but unless we were guranteed to get someone good to replace him it would be tough.

Interesting ....

Avery bradley is not a very good offensive player (ok though) but his defense is tenacious. No way they give up #23 along with that though. Not at Bradley's salary.

Don't think that I would do it straight up though.

Unless we're signing a A.Horford or dare i say D.Howard in free agency then i'm not trading Rolo because there's no way in hellz that KP is ready to play center full time and we have no idea what Willy will be in the NBA but i think he'll be more of a PF than a C.

If we got Vogel then I.Mahimi could be a good center to sign in the off season but we need a legit center if we trade Rolo.

He's not. Your 100% right. But one day he will be and Avery Bradley is a backcourt player at 25 I expect to play the next 10 years with. Rolo does not fit into my longer term plan.

Rolo DOES fit GREATLY into my immediate plans however, and I feel I can adequately upgrade my backcourt, OR if JH turns Grant into the kid who ran the Irish than we are a playoff team and we are BIG.

Trust me... Im not pro a trade for Rolo, but I think when you are trying to upgrade a team you need a proven commodity and Rolo really is at a friendly price. Its a tough move to step back but longer term it could be the critical chess move. Forward thinking always has risks. Failure to have forward thinking always has costs. Some balance is probably best

everyone besides KP is tradable ... I think that Rolo may fit really well into the type of offense that Hornacek wants to run.

no, it's not happening. stop wasting your time entertaining that
crzymdups @ 5/19/2016 1:12 AM
I don't see Rolo getting traded.

I do see the Knicks trying to sign Boston's Evan Turner in FA though.

KP has potential but everyone except Stephen Curry is tradeable.

disagree there ...

of course, I would trade KP for Steph Curry and Dray and 2 firsts ...
