Not cool to just say NO! You've gotta put up a name or two yourself.
I already have but it's hard searching through old posts. I'll contribute and provide a good analysis if one of y'all post about a player worth mentioning.
So you're contribution is posting only when someone else says something and will only post something worth the English language if someone mentions a starphuch
lol, what? Your long ass question is ill perceived. Brandon Jennings isn't worth talking about, that is all, next.
Lets say hypothetical
We acquire Curry and Crabbe in free agency
And Maker Gbinjie and Forbes in the draft
We go to atleast a top 3 NBA 3 point shooting team over night and we add a guy who darn near looks like Shaq to our frontline of KP and Lopez and enhances it for the next 15 years with KP.
In the east thats good for a 2-3 seed in year 1 and if we get things right--will allow us to compete for chips every year for a LONG time.

sigh...three 2nd rd draft picks, a scrub with good blood lines and a back up guard makes us a #2-3 seed for several yrs...sigh
im not gonna say any bad comments. i dont want to burst anyone's bubble. lets just say i dont agree

I think you've gone past hypothetic to fantasy.

San Antonio and Golden State were sure good at it.
San antonio Spurs
I wont even go back that fa other than Manu
Danny Green pick #46
Patty Mills pick #55
Manu Ginobli pick #58
Tony Parker pick #28
They were able to surround Tim Duncan with great players in round 2 and I believe 100% we can do the same. If you are a guy running the team--you have to feel like you can do the same with smart work. Golden State just did it--its work with what you have. This year the 2nd round is filled up --as mu8ch riches as you could want from a 2nd round and deep to undrafted. To me--what makes sense is to fill roster spots 13-15 and even the rights to players through aggressive 2nd round execution.
Were going against 29 other teams in free agency--its real easy to say stupid idea--when you have no idea your self. I try to balance the roster--first 12 are my players 3 are my development--2 of whc should be able to help me in a pinch. Maybe you have 1 vet in that 13-15 but thats it.
^^ so why are you throwing 90 million of Dolan's money at Seth and Crabbe, both second rounders? Why not just pick version 2.0 of same and pay them 500k like Josh Richardson in Miami?
notice that SAS and Miami picked those guys -- didn't buy them for gobs of money

If a guy like Josh Richardson(whom I liked before last years draft) goes on to play at the level he is when his contract runs out next year--he'll get his too. If you play well in the NBA and your re a young free agent on top of it--you're getting paid.
The guys I mentioned Gbinjie Maker Forbes Jones jr I personally have them all as top 25 picks. Its all in the beauty of the beholder.
Branden Jennings who has shot .389 for his CAREER?????? who's been on a shtty team every year of his career--hes going to change our fortunes???? Ill sit by my stupid suggestions.

I kinda agree about Jennings - but it stupid to suggest we're suddenly going to turn into SAS and find 4 or 5 nuggets in the second round/FA this off season. See what we did last year?
Baby steps. If we're lucky.
bazemore, jennings, crabbe, turner etc...these are all stop gap mediocre role players. i keep saying build thru the draft. hinkie was onto something but he was too deliberate and Arrogant about it. instead of winning 10 games a yr, knicks should lease shooting guards who cant shoot like turner and win 25-30 games a yr. get as any draft picks as u can and hopefully one becomes a star...like kp. build a nice young foundation and then instead of debating about which mediocre free agent will come, the discussion then becomes which begging all star do we choose from.

I love these posts where someone bashes yet has no plan. Yep we know Lebron James isn't coming here neither is Westbrook.

wheres my "no plan"? im saying build thru the draft and keep leasing short contract rentals for mediocre players. that way its more of a pseudo tank not a REAL tank. build a young foundation via draft picks. once thats done then all stars will beg to join the team

IMO Phil is gonna have the money and so I would expect that he'll be looking at FA's to augment the missing perimeter shooting. Spending on young 3nD guards is not a bad investment as long as you're also adding draft picks and UDFA's on cheaper contracts. I don't think the Knicks are gonna be able to get any of the Elite perimeter players this summer.
It's gonna depend on what Horn decides to do with the offense. If he's not going to stick to heavy Triangle but rather his uptempo with a little Triangle mixed in, then that to me means Phil will likely NOT go after Evan Turner. Horn isn't big on Midrange Shooting so Turner wouldn't make sense for how he wants to play. Crabbe and Bazemore would make much more sense.
Now with Horn as the coach a Seth Curry makes even more sense IMO. The only knock on Seth is that he hasn't really had a lot of NBA games under his belt. It's somewhat of a risk judging him based on 44 NBA games. Jennings has had more experience and so he's much more of a known quantity.

i actually like Ned's plan. it makes a lot of sense. As I've said before with a salary cap the name of the game is to find better talent for essentially the same money (assuming all teams cap out). the two most obvious areas to find value are in the draft where individual salaries are capped and you can get a guy who is worth more than his limit. Or by getting a superstar. Lebron and Steph are worth 2x or 3x what they're paid -- easy -- in terms of what they contribute
When you pay a guy 12 million a year -- guess what, he's probably (hopefully) worth that. Not a value, not a bargain but market rate. Not a good strategy to amassing better talent for the same fixed amount -- instead it's a great strategy to end up with the same talent as everyone else
SO the real stategy is getting a superstar who can contribute past his max or drafting well. Your own posts listed a number of 2d rounders who were great great values. Why do you want to give 90 million away hoping that guys can live up to that. You analogize to Allan Houston -- why the heck for? That was horrendous deal

All the guys I mentioned had a high efficiency rating
Crabbe--46%2p. 40%3p
Curry--45%2p. 45% 3p
Forbes 49%2p. 48% 3p
Gbinijie 46% 2p. 40p
Jones jr 67% 2p 2nd highest in draft
Maker the guy is 7-1 + and has a 37 inch vertical with a lot of skill

Agreed. We have done too much of this in the past. Chase the players name and past performance wihout evaluating the health risks and true future potential. Just see both of these as risks at such a high price point. Agree with Brigs in that we can steal get some young talent in the 1nd round by trading or cash. Also like players under radar like Augustune, Bayless and Lee who will come at much cheaper price. It would bw great to get another premier scorer but just doesn't see guys like Derozan or Batum leaving their current teams.

There's a fine line in free agency. I really liked what I saw with Crabbe over multiple playoff games which I would put a higher mark on than regular season . He's ready to breakout he knows the pecking order and he's a sniper with diverse upside. I think spending the mle ( which is 8.25mm) on Curry it's a no brainer to me. I think the synergy they have with Wroten Affalo and Grant fits nicely shooters to go with slashers. I'm not interested in retreads unless I'm shut out of fa wave 1. I'll go to a bayless type etc for 1 year AFTER my free agency is stopped by the other team matching the offer. The cap will go up again next year 20 mm if we can spend the money now for the right player u do it

You forgot to answer his question which was if we can build with some 2nd round picks then why spend $90 mil on Curry and Crabbe??

It's great to say we should build through the draft but i think Phil is ready to take the next step and get a legit guard in here this off season whether that be a PG or SG or maybe both and we can add to that with draft picks since we finally have all of our 1st round picks after this year. He's obviously gonna try to buy/trade for a late 1st or 2nd rounder this year and maybe he'll get two but he's not gonna do what Briggs is saying and buy/trade for 3. The only way he goes to building through the draft is if Melo waives his NTC and is traded but Melo is saying that won't happen so we have 3 really good pieces in our front court to add to with back court help and now that we have Hornacek i think the back court will be the main focus which just having Hornacek as our coach is gonna help big time with free agent guards and i wouldn't doubt if Rondo signs with us.
