Ok now you're starting to reach for answers. It would be a bad decision to give not only a max offer but anything even close to a max offer to Beal. I'd give a max offer to M.Conley or N.Batum before i give one to Beal. Love his stroke but he's always hurt so won't be able to see it enough. Were you not around for the Amare' years??
I'm not a doctor and neither are you - if doctors say he is healthy I gamble on the young 23 year old talent.
Stat was already what 28 when he came to NY with 8-10 years of wear on his body and post micro fracture surgery. I like that Beals age range mirrors KP and he's a superior talent. Comes down to what doctors tell me but just because he's had some early injuries doesn't preclude me from writing him off.
Well lucky for us you're not our GM because giving a max contract to B.Beal could really hurt our future and that's a chance that i hope we don't take. I wanna make it clear though that if he didn't have the injury history and wasn't in harms way of having problems with his knee for the rest of his career then i'd be fine with giving him a max contract offer but that's just not the case with Beal.
We are secure with your genius leading the way.

Shit, minimal if any improvement over last year

I disagree. That's a great improvement, if Beal is healthy. He's dynamic, a great scorer, a 40% 3 pt shooter. Plus Grant will be much better this year we hope. Throw in Wroten, any additional free agents and an excellent coach and we should be competitive and exciting.

If this team could play .500 ball when Jose and AA were playing well, i'm pretty sure they can be even better with younger and more talented guards in the mix. I'm concerned about Beal's health much like Conley. It's not about their talent which would clearly be an upgrade. If you take a risk on an injured guard, then a cheap player like Wroten makes sense. I'm not so sure about risking a lot of money on a guy like Beal.

not good at all: beal does not defend the position. we need defenders at every position. we are already in the hole since melo is a marginal defender at best... and will be steadily losing a step on defense. then there's grant, who also is a sub-standard defender.
best way to improve the team is getting the best defenders we can at every position, and then only secondly consider their offensive weaknesses and address those weaknesses through coaching. defenders are harder to come by at the nba level. everyone there has found a way to score below the nba level-- either through sheer size and athleticism-- combined with some skill so scoring is again trumped by defending. lastly, the adage is true that scoring comes and goes but defense is forever.

What? He is barely barely better than Afflalo interms of actually helping the team to win. 40% 3 pt? so what Afflalo shot 39% and Calderon shot higher than that. Beal and Wall are the most overrated guards in the league.

Given your assessment, you are saying Calderon and Affalo are better than Wall and Beal?

I don't think that is anything close to what he said. How did you extrapolate that?
EnySpree wrote:Wow why would he say that out loud and to the media?
Seriously, he realizes that he is a FA right. Its not as bad as a video surfacing of you wearing a bong bask hours before the NFL Draft but its still bad.
nixluva wrote:It may just be too risky for Beal. There are other options with far less risk that would be good additions for this team. It's not like he's been blowing it out the water.
Its the age factor with Porzingis, A 22 year old SG would be perfect

I like the adage that speed and defense don't go in slumps -- you can add size to that
shooting, that's a different question and when you rely on outside shots *whether 3s or 2s) there will be nights that will kill you

It would be foolish to think that as he gets older he'll get more durable. Most 22 year olds are made out of rubber; this guy seems to be made out of glass (though when he is playing you can't deny that stroke is pretty)
Remember Edina?
haha how could I forget her, or him, or it?
it's important though. Melo missed games this year and we stunk. Durablity should be a key factor in deciding whether the guy is worth big money. it shouldn't be based on "what ifs"
some guys just cant hack a full season.
Bradley Beal wants to play basektball about as much as Eddy Curry did... I live in the greater DC area and the talk radio guys love to point out that Beal always suffered some injury and he was always out longer for injury than the average player. I think he's a mental midget and I think he's in the league just to cash paychecks. I'd rather Briggs gave Crabbe 14% of the Knicks than sign Beal to a max deal ugh I can't believe we are talking about Beal
If B.Beal didn't have his injury problems would you consider him max deal worthy?? I would and think he'd be a perfect fit for this team and what we're hearing JH wants to run offensively with this team. It seems like every player that's being talked about this off season about getting a max contract has some issues whether that be injury issues or that he's just not worth max for other reasons besides KD.
http://www.chatsports.com/new-york-knick...
Phil will never overpay which means no max contract for anybody but KD.
They will reach to other players only if:
a) Players will reach to NY first expressing desire to sign.
b) We will do have max money
c) Player will feet the team direction perfectly...
So I do not expect max signing this year at all.
