I think Derozan ends up with the Lakers.

The Lakers would absolutely over pay for him. They have $60 million in cap space and if they can get a legit SG like Derozan to come there they'll pay for that.

There are other low hanging fruit RFA's to go after. I like Fournier but he's not one of the more gettable guys. I think Phil will focus on guys that he has a chance to actually get, whether UFA or RFA. Agents have no doubt contacted Phil to let him know of their player's interest. This is a good spot given our holes at guard.
A lot of (RFA guards) Agents will contact Phil for offseason media attention to negotiate resigning early in the offseason. Phil two offseason in getting us a pair of veteran starter guards has graded a "F" for Failure.
Phil graded a B- minus in getting us guards Grant and Gallo first full season in the NBA.
Grant and Gallo should come off the bench next season as a tandem back-court pair for Hornacek
Phil gave away Shump & JR for nothing in return, Phil should do the same thing in offseason with Calderon n Afflalo
Jeff Hornacek will just be next Knicks coach to get fired if Phil Jackson can't recruit
People don't want to hear another word about a triangle offense with which he won when he had Michael and Scottie and Kobe and Shaq and Gasol. Good grief, it sounds sometimes like he is speaking wistfully about hula hoops. Knick fans don't want to hear about truth and beauty. They want their team to win again. Jackson didn't inherit a team that was the NBA equivalent of the 1-15 Jets. No, what Jackson did was immediately turn the Knicks into the NBA equivalent of 1-15.

How do you know what RFA's are gonna do this summer? It's not about a lot of RFA's. It's about the right RFA getting a contract from the Knicks. IMO if Phil makes a deal with an RFA it's gonna be legit and hopefully that player's team won't match. He's gotta pick an RFA from a team that has some cap concerns.
The way I look at it, this team not having great guards right now, opens up opportunities to find the right guys. This is a new day and perhaps you should consider the may positive aspects of where the Knicks franchise is currently. Reflecting on the past is fine but at some point you have to live in the present and plan for the future.

One problem with that is DeRozan could/would take them out of the potential KD/Westbrook dream combo signing in 2017. If Durant re-ups on a 2 year deal with 1-year opt out he and Westbrook hit the market together next summer.
I'm good on Rondo but if Conley for some inexplicable reason wants to play here you pay him whatever it takes.

I agree with Briggs about Agents for guards potentially contacting Phil. Especially if their client isn't a starter and is looking for room to grow. I think players knowing the knicks need guards is going to make it easy to target guys. I also think the knicks are aware of the talent in PG's in 2017. Its good enough to make a year of Wroten/Grant worth a try and if it actually works out that's even better.
Also I don't think Grant and Wroten need to be amazing PG's next season for them to be starter quality guards. They are both big/fast guys who can drive very well and potentially could be very good defenders for their position. I am expecting them to see heavy minutes on the floor together. They are both SG sized PG, and Horn has experience using those in Phoenix. All they need to do really is just acquire a better 3 pt shooters to play with all of them (and keep opponents from just game planning to keep the knicks guards from driving). Gallo could see minutes too in the back court, but I would hope the knicks get a starting PG to play with their best PG on the roster.

Would be enough of a threat of outside shooting to keep opposing defenders out of the paint. This would create better opportunities for Wroten/Rolo PnR's, RoLo blocking his man out to help and create a lane for a PG to drive (wroten/Grants strengths), or for a drive and kick out to the shooters, I also think it would help with posting and post pass opportunities.
