It's 1 more point then you get from a dunk to and that definitely has an effect on the game.

Nalod, nobody is silly enough to propose passing up layups and dunks for 3's. 3's open up layups and layups open up 3's. They need to be a team.

Its all about TS%. Layups, Contested layups and threes, actually. The drawn foul creating the 3 point play opportunity is actually a pretty high TS% play with the added bonus of putting people in foul trouble.

I included threes in my TS%. Take away the midrange and long 2s. Leave the drives, layups and threes.
