Knicks · So i'm sitting here watching espn 1st take right now........ (page 1)

So SAS just said that he talked to what he says is a reliable source that told him that K.Durant will absolutely consider the Knicks and then Skip jumped in and said he's talked to a couple of sources that have told him the same thing. Now i know the negative people are gonna jump in here and call this smoke screens and KD just using New York to help negotiations with other teams and that all could be true but i don't think, actually i know that KD doesn't need to use smoke screens to help any negotiations with any other teams.

You never know guys KD could be looking at KP as a great piece to grow with and having Melo for the next 2/3 years as a top player in the league doesn't hurt. We sure as hell wouldn't have a problem getting a point guard to come play with that team even though we might have to wait till the following off season to get a top point guard because wed'd have to spend everything we have this year on KD.

I'd agree with this - but I'm not skeptical of KD using NY for leverage. I'm skeptical of SAS and Skip using the NY market for views and hits on the ESPN website.

Decision... Yes KD facing his decision moment.
The force is rising in NY and one can regret not joining the forces at the right time.
He owes nothing to OKC. He left all he had on the court and they have their man in Westbrook.
Yes. He can join the powers that are with Spurs or GSW to be a part of it but not to be the Man.
The choice is his.
dk7th @ 6/8/2016 11:49 AM
i have to imagine new york or san antonio as his two top destinations. that partnership with westbrook is played out. durant has another level to get to as a playmaker that is being hindered by westbrook's ball dominance and excessive shot attempts.

I'm skeptical of BOTH. We already know SAS is an idiot blowhard who says anything to bump his page views and ratings. He's a publicity whore.

Of course KD would "consider" NY. Then he will do what others have done, just say "No", although he's sort of polite, so he'll say "No, thank you".

We don't need KD. We have Melo. Let's add complimentary pieces, not redundant ones.

Skip is leaving ESPN, and he could have just left this to Stephen A., so i don't think it serves him any advantage to say something that's not true just to benefit ESPN.
Nalod @ 6/8/2016 1:07 PM
Of course he would consider ny if asked. Might say he'd consider 29 other teams too. Its polite.
Phil is a force that you learn from and he should take a meeting. I'd hope that like he has before, he does it privately.
Starphuch news is awful. Skip leaving ESPN? What will he do?

All of these guys have click numbers and bonuses tied to them and then the general mode and mindset of setting themselves up for that. Just cause he's leaving don't mean his every day left him.

SupremeCommander @ 6/8/2016 1:34 PM
as for their comments, literally any and every big time FA should talk to the Knicks. I know KD is going to get a max deal no matter what but if I were him I'd want my agent to do his job
Vmart @ 6/8/2016 1:34 PM
Believe it when I see it.
mreinman @ 6/8/2016 1:38 PM
KD may really like the NY option but not without guards. He would need to be convinced that we can put together a complete team.

If we get KD, what would be the $$ left and the plan to get winning guards.

WaltLongmire @ 6/8/2016 1:42 PM
Does he really need to use any other team for leverage?

He gets a Max contract wherever he ends up, but gets more with OKC, right?

If he goes to another team besides OKC he has to be looking at a team he feels he can win a title with, and one he fits in with well in terms of his playing style.

Would the Knicks offer him the best chance for a title?

obviously not! but if he went to SA, it loses some oomph if he wins. He should find his way to LAC somehow. Or Toronto, Indiana, ... or just stay in OKC and get westbrook a shrink and/or put him on relaxers.

They do offer a best chance at a championship simply because they are in the east. If he signs with the Knicks the Knicks automatically get catapulted to favorite status even over the Cavs.

your logic is flawed ... he should not look at how much he makes a team but which team that he makes better ends up being the best team.

Obviously if we did get KD he would take up most of our cap space we have but not all of it and there is a couple of guys that i would look at to play point guard for us that we could get cheap to hold us up until next off season when we'll have around $25-$27 million to spend in K.Martin/J.Crawford/DJ Augustine/J.Bayless or depending on just how much money we have left cause i'm sure we could work his contract to where the bigger money comes later to where we could have like $8-$10 left to spend and we could get B.Jennings or T.Johnson.

I'm just throwing some names out there cause i'm not sure just how much it would cost to get KD or how much any of these PG's i mentioned are looking for or what they would get but we could have around $33-$36 million to spend if both Afflao and DW opt out and we stretch Calderon.

Exactly- it's never going to happen.dont see how melo and KD would work anyways, plus it would seriously diminish KP as those two would devour most of the shots.

We wouldn't give him the best chance at a title next year but i think we could be a contender for the 2017/18 season if we get KD this off season and our top point guard the following off season when we'll have around $27 million to spend. In the 2017/18 season we could have a lineup of:

PG--C.Paul or K.Lowry or R.Westbrook or J.Teague or......the list of free agent PG's in 2017 is strong.
SG--??
SF--K.Durant/Melo
PF--Melo/K.Durant
C--KP/R.Lopez

I don't even know who i'd put at the SG spot and with that lineup i don't think it would matter and i'd probably just put a strong defender there that can D-Up the other teams top player.
