I think it was more of a response to Byron(always getting fired) Scott. I know if phil had the 2nd rnd pick, he would have went with Oak

Talked up KP like he was chasing a straight, when really he was hoping for one of the Pocket Aces or Pocket Kings fell in Okafor or Russell. Only when KP turned out to be a winning hand did he reveal that he was chasing the straight the whole time.Typical gambler logic.
This is all. He set himself up to have either bragging rights or the players he wanted more, right or wrong he doesn't like to lose.

Yup. Better to be lucky than be good. That's why I want the Knicks to tank hard this year in a strong draft class. 2016 looks to be a weak draft, but 2017 looks to be strong like 2015. I mean the top 4 of the 2015 draft figure to be all starting caliber, maybe even all star or better players. 2017 figures to be of a similar quality.
Phil needs more chances to chase that straight and gamble once again for the hope and future of this franchise, and in order to do that, have to guarantee a top 5 pick. They have to lose, and lose alot to get better in the long run.

Yup ... seemed that way
Phil is such a front runner sometimes. He loves to gloat but earlier it was you really have to wait and see 3-4 yrs down the road before you can determine a draft pick. How is it considered playing mind games when he said he tries to warn Buss' guys? Also, Why would you tell another staff before the draft how much they should draft a player you like?
He might be a front Runner but it feels great to have something related to the knicks to be a front runner on.

Thank the GLA that his failure led us to KP.
