http://dailyknicks.com/2016/06/10/jeff-h...Wow. I personally don't see it. So wishful thinking from a new coach or do you think we have a legit shot at a true max guy? And who can he be talking about? Please say it's not Mike Conley Jr. or Rondo. Those two ARE NOT max players. Neither is Batum.. You think JH is talking about KD? Maybe he's drinking the same Kool-Aid as Skip Bayless.

Ahh, maybe he's thinking DeRozan..
There's only one max player worthy of that and it's Durant.

Agreed.
Sounds like Conley or Derozan too me. The talk about wanting a lead guard and paying Max money.
On the flip maybe this is all a smoke screen and they plan to go in a different direction.
Just sounds like normal logic. You aim for the top but prepare for options below that. Always plan A, B, C & D. Aiming for a Max player only makes sense if they at least have some idea that certain max players are interested in coming and at least talking seriously with the Knicks.
Nothing new here. Last season was about chasing the max guy until max guy goes somewhere else than in to plan B.
They might as well keep all options open.
Did anyone catch that the article said the Knicks expect DWill to opt in and Afflalo to opt out. Is that wishful thinking by the author?

JH probably just using logic about AA. He said that with the cap going up teams are flush with cash and AA would likely seek to get a bigger contract. It's possible that AA's agent already knows the Knicks want a different SG for next year.

this! I got a sneaky feeling the impossible is going to happen. Unicorn plus Phil plus NYC = magic

What about DWill opting in at 4 mil a year? I can't see that happening. I think DWill gets a bigger contract.

Yeah unless DWILL has indicated he's gonna opt in, which I doubt. This is just a huge opportunity for players to increase their contracts. No agent will let his client pass that up. I liked what DWILL showed and would like him back, but if he moves on I think they can replace his athletic ability with a younger and cheaper player. IMO there are always guys like that coming out of every draft. The Knicks appear to be targeting not only PG's, but SG's and SF's in particular.
Have no idea who they're after, but I'm glad that Mgmt is serious about building a team capable of making the playoffs next season. I guess how much of a playoff team they'll be will depend in part on the player(s) and what they bring to the table.
Imagine. Okay say you get KD somehow someway. Do you still need Melo? Or would KP and Rolo rep the front Court ? Go to Boston. Melo in Green would suit me fine. Ask for Avery Bradley. There's a two way Player that gets it done. He would complement Grant/Wroten/Galloway push the ball up the court, play lockdown D and lead this team to content with Cavs next year. If not in Boston then to LA

Yeah i noticed that as well but think it was the writers mistake because there's been nothing to say he will opt in or i think the words the writer used was that he would accept his player option.

I don't know if what DWill gave us can be replaced for 4.6 million per especially how he played the last month of the season when he was hitting the outside shot like a beast. He was much better than anyone expected him to be for us, i liked the signing when it was made but i didn't expect him to play as well as he did.

Are you nuts? You don't think we could get much more than Bradley for Melo?

What are you talking about? You do realize that Melo has his NTC and that there's no way he's waiving it and if we got KD then there's really no way he'd waive it. Why would he want to get traded when he can stay where he loves playing in New York and play with KD, KP and Rolo and with that team we'll have players knocking down our door the following off season to come play here, we'll even have veterans giving us discounts to play with us next year.
Durant
Batum
Conley
DeRozan
All players I can see the Knicks offer a maximum contract to.
The max contract landscape has changed. A 25 million a year player is what used to be a 15 million a year guy. Melo who has been overpaid in my opinion even his contract will look much better in these next 2 years if he is still playing at his current all star level.
