I was wondering when Afflalo and Williams had to opt in or out. Thanks.
6/22/16 — Player option on Derrick Williams and Arron Afflalo.

Yeah this article pretty much tells you everything you need to know about every player we have and what choices we have with each player.

I saw the cap is now thought to be $94M for next year (up from $92M), so Knicks should have $20M if DWill and AAA opt in, $33M if DWill and AA opt out.

If AA and Dwill opt out A Rose trade starts to make some sense if they send Calderon and O'quinn to the Bulls for him. It would give the Knicks 47 million. If 20 went to rose. They could offer a guy like KD a max of 27.....

Food for thought

If we get Rose.....Stars will line up to get on the NY train.......driven by Phil Jackson. Everybody knows he has too much of an ego to not go out with a championship run before his contract is up. I think we already have the roll players you need at a low cost with a home grown star like Phil had with MJ. This is when he starts making his money. Phil and Riley are the best at managing a team of egotistic stars.

This says we could have $39.2 million in cap space if AA/DW both opt out and we don't bring Gallo back. Anyone know the truth on just how much cap space we could end up having or if this is true cause this is the first time i've heard we can have this much??

I don't see it - Rose to me is an enigma - talented, but always hurt. Can he reinvent himself? I don't see it - and if we got him in a dump move, I don't see many legit stars clamoring to come play with too older/oft injured stars that potentially won't play together for more than half our games.

Will diminished athletic ability actually keep him from being injured more often since he won't be doing some of the more acrobatic/high flying moves that might get him injured- perhaps...but taking him on with only one year on his contract means you can let him go if can't give you the number of games you want out of him.

I'm not a Rose fan, but maybe he does better in a controlled offense. Phil likes a guard who can hit the midrange J, which is something Rose can do, despite his limitations from distance.

Seems that his contract could be an issue. If he does poorly here, you could just let him go, of course, but if you find that he has value, you will have to pay him more than you might be willing to give a player who has been as brittle as Rose in his NBA career. If he comes here and helps lead the team into the playoffs, Phil faces a tough situation, because he might have to offer max money to a guy who might break down again at some point.

Why are we talking about D.Rose in a salary cap thread when we have a D.Rose thread??

You might just have a point...but thinking about taking on his salary would be a cap issue as well as an on court consideration.

Consideration of the impact of the salary cap on your team has to tied to player acquisition...no?

That's the culture of UK.....This isn't the first or last time a discussion doesn't line up with the thread title.

IMO Rose just isnt the same player he once was regarded after his injuries
Same day Iman Shumpert tore their ACL/KNEE
Both players just both lost a step

I wouldn't want Rose if he was for free, in fact I would have to consider it even if it included a 1st rounder

still can't understand why people still say things like this about players that are bad that used to be good.

why would players line up here to play with rose?
