GustavBahler wrote:Just finished watching on the DVR. Wasn't impressed with Baker. His shot looked more like a heave, some really ugly shots. His perimeter D was ok against larger players, but smaller ones blew right by him.

I liked Diabate, he was a pest on D, coughed it up a few times, but he also got to the rim quite easily, good at driving and dishing.

Labeyrie put in a lot of work in the paint, but please don't shoot! Another player heaving the ball, not shooting. Could fill the same role as Jefferies used to (his second time in NY) someone who isn't counted on to score much, but does the dirty work under the rim.

One second Plumlee's midrange shot looked good, the next second it looks like he never played the game. Did like his defense.

Going to mute the game next time, Greg Anthony and company talked about almost everything but the game. I get its SL, but these guys were in their own little world.

Plumlee looked VERY GOOD. He was quick on D, blocked out, defended the rim, made mid range face up jumpers and Hook shots. Missing a few doesn't make him up and down. he was clearly the most consistently good player next to Summers. I like Tokoto. He looks like he just needs help with his 3pt shot. He needs to take the shot with confidence, which he clearly doesn't have yet.

Diabate had some moments as did Harris. Hopefully Baker will have a better shooting day next game. I don't think he looked as bad as some are saying. If he shoots like he's capable he would've had a solid game. Let's remember he's adjusting to being used as a lead guard in the Triangle. There's probably a lot going through his head.

Nobody looked very good. We only scored 49 points for the whole game. And two of those points (the only two scored by Ron Baker) came as a result of the Piston's center accidentally tipping the ball into his own basket. If you want to see a good summer league team then watch the Heat destroy us later today. As Briggs has pointed out, we need to steal some of their players to develop.

Yup, their first round pick from last year is playing again this year.

Ours is not.

That's in the Heat's favor... right???

let's hold off on any final judgment until the end of the SL.

This team is looking really bad. The only 2 people that would even sniff a training camp invite so far is Plumlee(to be an end of the bench big) and maybe Summers. I don't like that we seem to be still running too much triangle and not enough PNR. If we trade for Rose and still do this triangle stuff our season will be lost.
WaltLongmire @ 7/3/2016 3:40 PM
Plumlee, Harris, Baker, and Summers are my choices for training camp invites, IMHO.
Clean @ 7/3/2016 4:07 PM
When the intangible player is probably the best player on the team you know the teams sucks. I really like Plumlee. I think with some molding and refining he can be a good role player in the NBA.

Yeah sure why not take the core of the team that gets smoked by 30 to the nba. I'm sure they'll get better there

BRIGGS @ 7/3/2016 4:17 PM
Atrocious. Dump them all I mean really
crzymdups @ 7/3/2016 4:20 PM
Wow. Watched parts of today's game. They're pretty terrible.

Baker does not look like a keeper.

BRIGGS @ 7/3/2016 4:21 PM
Baker is a European role player at best
GustavBahler @ 7/3/2016 4:24 PM
This is what happens when you dont have any picks in the draft for the first time in many years. None of them could do much to build on the last game. That was pretty sad.
Clean @ 7/3/2016 4:39 PM
I have never seen so many bad passes in my life. It is like they are purposely waiting until the worse possible time to pass. I now know why they skipped Las Vegas summer league this year. MSG did not want to waste money flying a crew out to record this disaster of a team.

I said it right before--I KNEW this SL team not only was terrible but would not be worth watching--really they are not. There was no creativity in putting this roster together--we could have Bryn Forbes Derrick Jones Cat Barber--maybe this PF from Hawaii who really looks like hes a pro shooter. We filled the team with SL has beens and undersized chubby nonathletic 2 guards who are already 24. We shouldve paid attention to nBA detail and emphasized speed athletic ability ball handling/ movement and shooting. The Knicks --someone in this organization over the last 3 years believes they can find a player with long arms and put him into some kind of pseudo triangle position. Bust bust bust.

Baker was by far our best player out there. He has court sense but needs guys who can shoot to distribute to. His defense is excellent and he plays hard. He gets to the foul line and plays with his head up while not engaging in hero ball. He cuts well without the ball too. If his shot was falling more we'd be raving about him.

Is b. forbes doing well in summer L?
Caseloads @ 7/3/2016 5:16 PM
good thing the knicks are only doing one summer L

we can sign other team's SL players as long as they are not draft picks or already under contract.

The Knicks wont do that. The fact that they already paid Baker a contract means they believe he was a guy who shouldve been picked 20-40. Boy just a little off there. With the way the cap is they are married to Baker for next year.

The Ron Baker contact was only partially guaranteed. They do that to make sure he signs with us over other teams who might not guarantee any money. We can cut him at any time before regular season we will just have to pay him whatever amount was guaranteed. We did the same thing last year with Darion Atkins and Wesley Saunders.
