The Knicks wont do that. The fact that they already paid Baker a contract means they believe he was a guy who shouldve been picked 20-40. Boy just a little off there. With the way the cap is they are married to Baker for next year.
The Ron Baker contact was only partially guaranteed. They do that to make sure he signs with us over other teams who might not guarantee any money. We can cut him at any time before regular season we will just have to pay him whatever amount was guaranteed. We did the same thing last year with Darion Atkins and Wesley Saunders.
We should pick up Derrick Jones--we need someone with athletic ability who can finish defend and create on that team. It needs an energetic component--its about as dull as you get.
Baker can defend and shoot at an NBA level on top of that he will be able to guard not 1's and 2's in the NBA.
He will be on the team and he will get some minutes. Like Galloway who looked like crap in Vegas last summer even after a solid rookie season with the Knicks Baker will be a solid role player.
If Baker were on the Miami squad that kicked our ass today he would look very nice doing the little things and making open shots but on our abortion squad KP might look like warm doggy poo.

I've been a little upset with his jumper...somewhat flat...would also like to see him take some midrange shots to get into a groove. Also feel that he's been a little hesitant at times with his shot.
I do feel that his shot will come around, though.
Very happy with his defensive presence, and he looks quick enough, IMO.

Stanley Johnson was there in the game?? Sorry I didn't understand. Following from Greece

Very hesitant shooter...and it shows.
I like him and I would bring him in and work on his confidence shooting. He can defend and do everything else. He just went full court and fouled going to the rim.
Disagree. I don't think we need anyone who is gonna hesitate shooting when wide open. Jerian Grant same issue
Forget his shot which has not looked good. His passing and ball handling for a guy who wants play nba basketball has been a disgrace. So take away the shooting bllhandling and passing and he's been just fine

I wouldn't go that far Briggs. Baker kept the ball moving, looked the most comfortable out there with the ball in his hands, but I don't believe his defense is all that right now. Really needs to show that 3. We need a 3 pt specialist who can shoot under pressure, Baker needs to show that part of his game.

As much as I have liked his D and the fact that he doesn't seem over-matched physically at all, if he does not hit the J, he won't remain in the league.
Also have to add, that he is out of position as a lead guard, and my own feeling is that these guys have not taken to the Triangle offense too well.
One of the "unfair" things with our SL teams is that they have to play in a new offense, for the most part, and most other teams are playing the way most young players are accustomed to playing.
With that said, our SL jump shooting with this crew has simply been terrible.
Two games vs the two top SL teams in Orlando, has proves the Knicks Scouts has poor judgement on selecting professional B.Ball players for a team are smoking the lethal stuff .. There are NO TYPE of leadership from the guards or big-men players or any from the poor coaching staff on the Knicks SL bench.
And KP sitting up in the stands with coach Horn vs Detroit game watching Stanley Johnson improve his leadership skills on offense/defense to embarrass the Knicks SL roster to look like the roster need to switch to a slower sport like baseball.
I still wish we would had selected Winslow in last year draft .. signing Noah to tutor a clueless KP in the post may be a bigger job than Noah expected when the coaching staff are gonna give KP/Melo/Rose the green-light to play the way they want .. beating bum teams and losing to 500 teams.

I totally did not see this. He made a ton of bad passes and bobbled the ball on his own a few times. His shot has also looked suspect for a shooter. Hopefully he improves the rest of the way but so far he has not seemed close to an NBA player.

He's definitely not a primary ball handler...yet. i like his defense, and he has decent height and wingspan for a combo guard. But the rest of his game needs work in the D-League.

I saw some bad passes, but I did see him doing a good job of not stopping the ball. If he didnt have a good look, more often than not Baker gave up the ball, found teammates.
Like I said, he needs to show that three, because this isn't enough to get a deal IMO.
A few comments from last nights summer league
We're not getting Demetrius Jackson because he was playing for the Celtics and he played well as a back up. The entire Celtic team looked physically talented multiple guys including jaylen Brown
Ben Simmons looked good for the most part he really does have some magic Johnson in him but he's not going to be a great scorer type. He passed on a few shots that shooters take but also made some nice passes DNS handles the ball like a 6-1 player. Christian wood if he was picked 4 th in the draft you would not say a word. He was that good I have a hard time believing this guy won't be an nba player this year as a pf at 6-11 whoever gets him it's a steal
Bryn forbes looks so much like a pro he hit 7-10 with two 3's but that wasn't the story to me it was his physical play his rebounding and tough d that showed up. The guy is an nba player actually reminds me of John Starks a little
Kyle andersen will one day be very good in the nba when he gets opportunity. He's a great triangle player and his shot looks really smooth right now
Trey lyles looks the same as last year
Also knock Bryn Forbes off any list--the Spurs signed him for the year. I wonder who will do better--Forbes signed by the Spurs or Baker by the Knicks--hmm best drafting team--one of the worst hmm I dont know that one.
Sure, sure.
D-League team is having a nice game and not a single comment. That's how we roll.
I see you Ultimateknicks fans.

Ah, you can see me at work then!
How about providing a bit of color commentary for us cubicle warriors from your orange and blue mancave, brah?
