History cannot be erased.
The attempt to do so only erasing the remaining of credibility of MSG corporate machine and Dolan.

Im going to take a stab at this:
I loved Linsanity!!! It was a fantastic story at the time, but in perspective it was more cultural than anything. Why? It was about Lin being of Asian decent and Harvard. This was a big deal at the time that he was perhaps kept down because of Stereotypical profiling? Some of that might be true, but Lin was not the first asian player to be in the NBA.
IT was a big deal, but not on par with Bernards back to back 50 pt games.
I did not see the program so I can't say what was shown over Linsanity. I get why people would be upset, but in time perspective sets in and Lin never lived up to what he did in that period of time.

Lin was absolutely, incredibly great... for two weeks of what has been deemed in UK land as the "jv season". Got torched by the likes of Deron Williams and some others. Earned one great Kobe quote for a great game against the Lakers. Never appeared in a playoff game for the franchise. Took the money (good for him, by the way) and ran. Directly into being a journeyman bench player with a nice little run in Charlotte.
Dolan owns the show. Dolan is a dick.

Not to mention, he led a team on the verge of missing the playoffs right back into the playoffs race while Melo was injured. So it had basketball significance as well as cultural impact. One of the only times this century the Knicks have been deemed relevant by everyone but Dolan. Lin made the cover of Sports Illustrated, even.
I think Dolan isn't the only one butt hurt about Lin - any time he comes up here, half the board tries to act like it didn't happen and that him getting a high offer from another team was his fault ("He MADE Houston offer him a poison pill!" - as if a free agent can force a team to make a certain offer)... instead of just acknowledging what it was - yet another horrible roster management decision that was driven by something other than basketball reasons (Dolan being butt hurt about the poison pill, Melo being butt hurt about Lin being more popular). It was a dumb move and it wasn't made for basketball reasons.
It should have been #1 on the list because it's the prime example of why the Knicks continue to be a joke around the league. Thankfully Phil is changing that and our decisions seem to finally FINALLY be basketball driven reasons, rather than trying to sell tickets or reacting to the fragile ego of our owner or whichever superstar we're currently pampering, be it Marbles or Melo or whoever.

I enjoyed Linsanity, was upset that he got hurt, pissed off that he punked out of the playoffs, and angry with both him and the Knicks when he left...but it was a brief burst of excitement in what has been a pretty poor century for the franchise up to this point.
However, no matter what the final outcome, Linsanity had to be mentioned in some way or form.
This reminds me of Joseph Stalin having certain opponents being erased from Soviet history and even airbrushing photos to create an alternate history of the Soviet Revolution.

Pretty sure I learned about Lin on this board pre-2012 as a player who could might be a good fit for
. When he was signed, I was excited and tweeted him a welcome. He was trending on Twitter worldwide before he even suited up because of all the love Knicks fans were flinging at him. So when he started going off in those games... man oh man.
Sure there was a big "community pick" aspect. There is the underdog aspect. Sports IS culture. Confluence of so many things but it was a brief vindication of ball. Easily the most notable event in the Garden the last 10 years. But totally not a surprise MSG is on some Eternal Sunshine bullshit.

We really don't know how personal Dolan takes people deceiving him.As great of a story as it was there are multiple reports that Lin told the Knicks one thing and when they gave him the contract he then tried to squeeze more money out of them at the last second. Some people say smart business move and others would call it a grimey tactic... There's a lot to blame Dolan for over the years but this one.... Not so much.

Did it have a happy ending? no, but we thought that he was going to be our savior at the time. Are you/we judging in retrospect?
Bernard King isn't relevant if the program was about notable 21st century events. Doing a countdown of notable Knick moments of the last 15 years and ignoring Lin is not only ignoring the elephant in the room. It's ignoring the elephant shit on your shoes.
