Who is out there? Let's get this started early baby. Thank goodness for Phil for torpedoing the season and getting the knicks a top lottery pick
StarksEwing1 @ 6/22/2016 8:13 PM
I still feel we should set our sights to getting another lottery pick to pair with KP. Also we will have a ton of cap space for next year along with a number of picks. Maybe thats phil real plan which is fine by me. Id rather stink for one more year and then have a long run of playoff basketball

George Hill just got a #12 pick and he is on a one year deal. So imagine what Lopez and Grant could have got. Lopez is better at his position than Hill and is locked into a great deal and Grant is on a rookie contract. Phil is dumber than a box of nails.

thats my biggest issue with the deal. Chicago should have thrown in a future first at least. Gotta hand it to chicago, they usually own us in trades

Phil covered all based... if Rose fails, we get a lottery pick and money. If he succeedsigns then we are a step closet to winning a championship. Either way we are good

+1 - This is the deal in a nutshell. A lot of irrational anger for the deal that has minimal downside.

Vmart @ 6/22/2016 10:02 PM
The next move is going to determine which way we go. This was a sideways move at best. I really don't like player with injury history especially multiple ones. The next move is the one that determines if playoffs and championships are coming the Knicks way.

I agree. Well said.

So trading a guy that averaged 27 per and sat most of the 4th and a Rookie, who's legs shook every time he entered a game, will torpedo our season? Love how fans hype up their own expectations of players. Rolo was nothing special IMO.(And according to Knicks and Blazers) Grant, while athletic, just had too many skills to improve and can be replaced by anyone in this years first two rounds in the draft. Yes, would have been nice to pick up a draft pick in this years draft but hopefully next year has a stronger class.

Are you really defending Fisher as a coach? Lopez got better every month he was a Knick. He crates space for KP to work, does the things you dont want your 7'6 rookie doing. Not many players are willing to give up their stats to get a win, and he still put up some monster games when Rambis played him in the 4th.

Never mentioned Fisher. And the Blazers sat him as well. Just pointing out that he was not an integral part of a defense/offense to go up against most smaller/faster lineups. Nor was he trusted by his former teams to be in at crunch time. Higher scoring games in the latter part of the season is typical for a lot of players as teams are resting for play-offs and playing their benches. Cant see sounding off alarms because a role player was traded. Yes he was a good role player. But lets not make him out to be a crucial part of our success or lack there of. Think we will be able to find another buffer for KP's transition to the center position. As that is the goal? Look no further than Noah or the many role playing centers on the market.

Never looked at the deal from that perspective but it certainly has its merits. I really wonder how far up we could've moved in this draft AND still have the ability to acquire Rose as a contract dump.

lol... not bad. But honestly I am not. Simply wait and see. In a vacuum I don't like this trade. Doesn't make it a terrible trade, just one I don't like. However I am very fascinated and this is clearly the first of many moves. Will the other's be big? Will we still pursue a max guy? Suddenly Batum looks interesting... if we sign another big piece its possible Rose is the 4th option on the team and that changes the look of the Knicks very much.

Rose *was* a great player, but he is not anymore. He's 27 however and if Shawn Livingston can sky and dunk from the foul line (did you see that throw down in the finals?).. if Grant Hill can play 82 games at age 35 and be a good player I think its not outlandish to think that Rose can be a good player. All star? MVP? I don't think anyone in the Knicks org thinks that....

Right now before the draft and FA Rose is the 3rd option. Maybe the 2nd with KP being the 3rd, but you get my point (even if you don't agree)

ChuckBuck @ 6/23/2016 9:27 AM
I truly hope this is the case. Armed with a top 5 pick and a zillion dollars in cap space is the PHUCKING ANSWER for this franchise. It would set us up nicely for 5 to 10 years starting in 2017 and well into KP's prime.

The deal is fine. Lopez is good but not great. THere are others who can put up similar numbers and play better D. Grant is a possible loss. Rose is the best player in the deal even in his current health. The injuries he has had are a bit behind him now. The talent he has is unquestionable and he is still 27! His upside is better than Grant's this season.

As for the next piece, I think it has to be a SG and a PF or C that defends and rebounds. Rose will be the 4th scoring option. Then solifdify the bench. There is also the chance of buying a 2nd rd pick tonight which may be a young pG. They have a plan, of that I am sure.

I have not heard that Rose is a bad locker room guy, is he? I think getting traded humbles a player. He will want to show the world he is still good.
