And teague was on an expiring contract, isn't Rose a much bigger upside player?
We needed to move Jose to make the numbers work, and Grant was the price to move that along.
If Teague gets injured, its an equal disaster had we done that deal.
Rose played uneven last year, but it was his last 30 games that started to show some of his old self.
and That "Old self" can attract free agents.

I was in that category. This deal smells the same. Both were one year rentals. We clear future cap space of Calderon here. It comes down to whether Rose has an ability to revert to form. Regression to the mean would indicate in the absence of specific factors, Rose should b better than last year. The point of the Teague move was to get KrisP time at C and move Melo to his more efficient position as PF. With $34mm or so to spend on FA, you can spend the 26mm on a top tier wing and still have 8 mm or so to get a B-Wing.
Alternatively, you could go after Whiteside to protect And still have $14mm or so to offer Bazemore or Fournier. But that doesn't make Melo more efficient.
Teague is a quality player and Rose is not.

I saw something yesterday that after the all star break Rose's numbers were right up there with the top point guards.

If healthy Rose is a much better player than Teague and guess what?? He's healthy.....right now anyway.

Because... Reasons?
When healthy, both players are improvements for their new teams. When injured, obviously not. But in Rose's case, his contract running out will help us in 2017. So...
Why the hate?

Rose has more upside, no doubt. His injury concerns balance that out, so i would consider Rose and Teague to be on the same level right now. Stats are similar too.

Rose is an awful player by pretty much every metric used. The only thing he is decent at is attempting shots. So what his contract will run out next year you still paid too much for a player who sucks.
If 2017 was the goal there are better ways to get rid of Lopez and Grant. They could have sold them off for picks this year or in the future.
Teague is simply better at basketball than Rose and has been the healthier player. Even in a bad year he is still an above average guard.

$60 million can buy you a Westbrook and Greek Freak combo platter or a Lowry/Ibaka salad....so many choices!!! And we'll have our draft pick!!!
there is no way in hell any with sense would come to a lottery team, so tanking is no option at all...can you please stop saying (tank) as if the 17 wins wasn't proof enough.

Really? No one would want $30 mill a year for 5 years guaranteed with an impending labor strike in the horizon?!?! If we play our cards right, 2 Max free agents could team up with KP and Melo if they wanted.
Are kidding me?
