Limited range on his shot.

Why do the Hornets want to get rid of him? Is there a numbers game going on there, or does it have something to do with his playing?

Hawes has a lot of limitations as a player...does he provide anything more than a 3pt shot at this point in his career?

I think youre getting a serviceable stretch 5 for a 22 pick. Hed be easy to flip next year

I lean toward Hawes because I'm suspicious over why the Hornets give Lamb an extension and then want to get rid of him., especially after having some good moments earlier in the year.

Hawes can shoot, and has some passing ability...but is he broken down physically at this point? Don't know what his injury was last year. He is an extremely "old" 28 year old, and his athleticism was never off the charts to begin with.

I would like the pick, though.

If they clear Hawes or Lamb it looks like they have around $45M to play with in FA.

They have to sign Batum, who will be a max contract, I assume. Don't know if they want Marvin Williams, Lee, and Jefferson back, or whether they are looking for outside FAs.

they might want Lin back too; he contributed in their system

Spencer Hawes is not a bum...

We just traded for Rose before the draft... safe to say things are escalating rather quickly

seems like someone is offering free money and we're wondering if it's worth it. What am I missing? Lamb or Hawes are decent enough and #22 will get a contributor

True...forgot him.

I don't think they are trying to bamboozle someone into take a bad contract here. They just desperately need cap space to re-sign Al/Batum/Lin. Gotta cut salary somewhere, Lamb/Hawes are it. Courtney Lee is another name as well. They have a lot of pieces they need to deal with so it's not super surprising they're trying to get someone to take 1 of these 2 guys.
Finestrg @ 6/23/2016 12:01 PM
I would be interested in either scenario (prefer Lamb over Hawes but for the 22nd pick, I'd take either guy). What are we giving Charlotte though? Nothing? I was gonna say maybe we flip a resigned Langston Galloway but the whole point is they want to shed salary. Hey man, sign me up. Is Jeremy Lamb starting 2G material or what? Haven't seen him play in awhile..

Plus he has the wild-man look that we are losing with the departure of Lopez.

What kind of injury/injuries did he have last year?

Read he had an MCL strain in the playoffs, but he also got hurt earlier, I think.

This deal is a no brainer.

Have you read that Jefferson is a signing priority for them?

The 22nd pick in this draft is not worth paying a bad player 7 million dollars for the next 3 years. Hawes contract isn't that bad though I'd do it for him.

This is just a rumor with no word from anyone actually in the Charlotte front office to actually back that rumor up.

Krylon @ 6/23/2016 12:09 PM
C.Lee is a target right?

Would it make sense for Charlotte and us to do a sign-and-trade with Lee/Pick #22/Hawes? Just a thought.

Hawes is owed 5.8 mil this year and 6 next year. Not a huge salary cap hit and he would give a little depth.

Finestrg @ 6/23/2016 12:17 PM
I dunno -- Lamb is still young and has some nice promise, no? Why are some of you not high on him anymore? I see he barely played in Charlotte's 1st round playoff series vs. Miami. I mean I like Courtney Lee as much as the next guy but I think I'd prefer a guy a good 7 years younger with a higher ceiling.. Nice young building block to go along with KP, no? I'm curious -- why no to Jeremy Lamb? Is it the new contract? $7mm/yr for a guy with his talent/upside seems reasonable esp. with the new cap.

Isn't Wojo the rumor-god?

If he is reporting it, you figure it has some legs.

most definitely - or anything that comes his Vertical on yahoo, they send out some rumors too.

crush was saying that yahoo is airing their own draft special tonight and will have the rumors before NBA has them. should be interesting.

Yeah, I think this has legs going on who's reporting it although part of me does think it sounds too good to be true a little.

Don't normally watch the draft on yahoo but I think I will tonight. Very excited!
