Knicks · how about Marvin Williams? (page 1)

mreinman @ 6/23/2016 11:26 AM
He is a FA and really had an excellent year. He is also a good small ball player.

I assume that he will be resigned but he is a guy that no one is talking about that may be affordable.

Chandler @ 6/23/2016 11:36 AM
He's intriguing. Clearly never lived up to his draft status but he can contribute. It comes down to his demands. I would throw Harrison Barnes into the same mix and in some ways similar to Marvin -- long, can play some D (Barnes can guard 2s IMO), hit open shots. Super nice but complementary type player. Plays better when surrounded by still better (and selfless) players
WaltLongmire @ 6/23/2016 11:41 AM
He seems to have developed an outside shot.

He really disappeared in the playoffs...big time.

I think he stays with small market Charlotte if they still want him.

Made 7M last year, and we are already set at the 3 & 4 slots, so I doubt if Phil would even offer him the money he made last season...and you figure he's looking for $10M+/year after having a good year in Charlotte.

Even if you thought KP was ready to play at the 5, Williams is not the kind of guy you would pair with him, IMO.

Marvin is the closest player to Tim Thomas I can think of. Maybe they are cousins?

Had a good year but pass. Rather give DWill that money

did you watch him this year? We can't just remember old days of players like how good Rose WAS

Marvin shot 50% from 2 and 40% from 3. That is phenomenal!

I didn't watch him much but I do a couple of fantasy basketball leagues and he was on a team where I won the league. He was very solid.

he was a completely diff player this year and a big reason for their success. Unnoticed though.

so did Tim Thomas.

How much you want to dish out for a 30 year old who shot 50 points higher at 3 than his career average and 25 point higher at 2?

Ive seen enough of Marvin over the years to pass. No thanks

you have seen him? that ain't enough anymore. You have to also check his stats.

he is at 38.4 in 2 years from 3 in charlotte

he shot 50% from 2 and only 2 and a half points higher than his career avg.

Have you seen him or are you only checking his stats? He's not totally different at all. He's had good years before.. usually followed by 3 bad ones. I would much rather pay DWill, who will be cheaper and is 24 vs. 30

You willing to pay Marvin based on his career and playing so well in a contract year? Im not.

Cartman718 @ 6/23/2016 2:04 PM
marvin williams...um no. not consistent and we already have enough of that on our roster.

Not sure who will be cheaper. They're comparable overall. I'd take whoever would sign for less.

Marvin Williams has fluke year player written all over. It's not out of the ordinary for guys his age to have one "big" year, only to get overpaid and fall down to eaeth. I'd rather keep Lance.

Agreed. Marvin reminds me a lot of Tim Thomas.
