Knicks · Screamin A Smith on the Rose Trade (page 1)
NYKBocker@ 6/23/2016 2:29 PM
I don't know why I do this to myself but I watched First Take this morning. Screamin A is a fool. His hard-on for Phil is irritating.
fishmike@ 6/23/2016 2:50 PM
I cant listen to him... whats the take?
crzymdups@ 6/23/2016 2:51 PM
I'm watching this now. I can't figure out why.
gunsnewing@ 6/23/2016 2:54 PM
Let me guess. He sees the trade at face value for all the wrong reasons? And thinks the Knicks solely made this deal expecting MVP Rose and getting caca instead?

It's mainly Coach Calipari arguing for DRose. Stephen A says he doesn't think it gets them a chip. Coach Cal is like "duh, you idiot." But they both agree if they get "one more guy" they can make a run. Coach Cal throws Dwight's name out there, which would really be a hard pill to swallow for me.
Krylon@ 6/23/2016 2:57 PM
To be fair he didn't really say anything negative. He just thinks the trade doesn't really move the needle much, which may turn out to be true.
Calipari seems to think Rose can get back to at least a little bit of what he was (then again Rose is one of his guys so of course he is going to say that).
Cartman718@ 6/23/2016 3:04 PM
nothing new said in the 10 mins of conversation. only point worth noting...lebron saying iman and jr will go through a wall for him...is rose that guy for melo and kp...calipari's answer...yes.
EnySpree@ 6/23/2016 3:09 PM
Thanks for the run down. I can't deal with SAS
Nalod@ 6/23/2016 3:13 PM
SAS in fool mode with biggest problem being what Rose said about playing for next contract.
Nalod not so entertaining, Im just like the rest of y'all, we just gonna have to see what happened on the court and what else happens this off season.

I love listening to him.....but without skip it makes it difficult. It's like going from a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to just a jelly sandwich or just peanut butter....they balance each other. SA is basically worried about the same things people are whinning about.....his health and how many games will he play. But coach makes the same points I make......rose and the Knicks need each other.....adding another star player makes us a playoff team or better.....and when healthy rose is a beast who doesn't have to or want to take all the shots. So at this point in his career he's not trying to put up all the shots. He wants to be a healthy floor general.
Nalod@ 6/23/2016 3:19 PM
Coach Cal doing his thing on draft day!!!!!
Finestrg@ 6/23/2016 3:26 PM
I swear, Stephen A. always has an ass-backwards, ignorant way of looking at stuff in the NBA, surprising considering how close he is to everything...I mean who the hell cares about what Rose may have said about taking himself out of a game or taking some time off because he wasn't right physically. WTF is he supposed to say if he's hurt or not right? He's not allowed to worry out loud about his health going forward?? Hey Stephen A -- have you ever had to come back from a torn ACL and deal with all the negativity and setbacks that come with it?? And is Rose the first and only NBA player to ever say something along those lines?? Jesus--not a big deal, man. RELAX YOUSELF!! And he wastes so much time talking about it roundabout -- come right out and say 'I had an issue with something Rose said once and this is it' then wait for Cal's reply. Wastes so much time hoopin' and hollerin', I didn't even know where he was going the first few mins. of his rant...God, he's laughable to listen to. How 'bout talking about the nuts and bolts of this deal -- how there's really very little risk involved for the Knicks and about the upside -- either Rose works out or he expires and we get mondo cap room. This is worth listening to to get coach Cal's perspective on the deal, even if I don't agree about adding Dwight Howard to the mix. SAS is lost in space as usual; Cal offers much better perspective and is about 99% on point here though.

as is I don't think it does move the needle much, but I do believe it makes the Knicks a more attractive FA destination. If we land a big fish it would be hard to deny this trade was a factor.

It sure enough moves the needle IMO. Clearly Rose is a threat on the move with the ball and we already have 2 other BIG threats! If people can just imagine we have 2 more starting slots to fill and with every quality player we add it will exponentially impact the win total.

SAS ranted about non basketball related matter. Drose comment was stupid and egocentric for sure. Im no fan of Drose. The whole business around his rape accusations is pretty sticky as well. Pun intended. Not saying he was guilty, but usually its to what degree are they innocent and often its not 100%. MY take is she consented to it a lot, felt abused, and in time the combo of taking things for granted and her engagement broken made her angry.
But,
He is a knick and I root for his good health and that he is great going forward. This is a kid who is not a problem on the court or in the locker room. A 22 year old MVP carries a big chip on his shoulder and he has not matured quite yet.
New beginnings. Fans are powerless so we either choose to root for our team, or be highly critical and try to be "That Guy"!

If Phil farted on draft day you would be convinced it moved the needle.

Why listen to Stephen A, when you could listen to Corey Maggette -
Javascript is not enabled or there was problem with the URL: https://twitter.com/Corey_Maggette/status/746037137053724672
Smith is a diehard Knicks fan, and even though he doesn't always get it right, I do believe he has a good understanding of the game. Now that Skip is gone, Im hoping to God that Will Cain isnt his replacement. I change the channel the second that asshole opens his mouth.
MS@ 6/23/2016 4:45 PM
It's a valid point he was making.
You have a player that missed over 200+ games in four years and he's up there talking about his next contract when he is essentially stealing money.
You can't talk about taking care of your family when you have 90MM coming to you from the Bulls and 90MM from adidas.
You have to examine someone mentally when they are up there talking about the new money and new contracts.
