I'm wondering if it will be Evan Turner? Neither Rose nor Turner are great outside shooters, but both guys can penetrate and have a good mid-range game.
Also, the lack of outside shooting there might be offset somewhat by the fact that Melo and KP ARE good outside shooters.
What are the other realistic options at SG? (Note - I am leaving restricted guys off this list, because I just don't think they're realistic. I'm also leaving Wade, DeRozan off the list for similar reasons.)
Evan Turner - solid D, good playmaker, could be valuable to have with scorers like DRose, Melo, KP
Courtney Lee - great D, solid 40% shooter from 3
Kent Bazemore - I think of him as more of a SF, not remotely a passer either - good D, good outside shooter
Jamal Crawford - great scorer, suspect D, 36yr old can't really be your starter
Eric Gordon - can fill it up... when healthy... which seems to be less often than DRose.
Gerald Green - played extremely well for Hornacek in PHX. IF we could get him cheap, I'd love to sign him to come off the bench and sign a more defensive starting SG.
What are some other options at SG?
Another guy I really like to be a combo guard, maybe start next to DRose, maybe play backup PG is Jerryd Bayless
Not really FA and clearly not top choice but what do people think about Langston focusing more as a 2 alongside Rose.
Turner. Great defender and a great facilitator as well.

What's A.Crabbe's defense like?? I'd probably put him on top of all of those guys if he plays defense. We still need a 3 point shooter cause that's not Rose's game. I'd still be more than happy with any one of E.Turner, C.Lee or K.Bazemore but would prefer Crabbe. Too bad Batum is pretty adamant on going back to Charlotte cause he'd be a really nice fit.

I love Langston off the bench... but not ready to rely on him as a starter.

Yeah, that's how I'm leaning right now.
I'd love a way to add Turner AND Bayless AND Joakim Noah. Not sure if that's financially realistic.

I just don't believe we can get Crabbe in this market since he's RFA.
He's a good defender, though honestly he's more of a 3 than a 2 - he played alongside Dame and CJ a lot.
Probably Bazemore or Lee for gettable guys.
I would re-sign afflalo for around 10 million a year.
Afflalo will be 3rd to 4th option and not a 2nd option, so that means less focus and pressure is on him.

I wouldn't be giving a big deal to any of them. It may be possible
Evan "never google" Fournier

That'd be interesting. I'd be on board. Especially if DWill is too pricey.

I think Orlando would match up to a Max on him. He's really good and they know it.

We can do it. Not sure we should, but we can and as of now there aren't many stand out SGs to be had next year FA in my opinion.
ESPN is saying we have 35 mil in capspace right now.

Yeah, I'm saying I think Orlando will match at any number. He's their best player by far. They just traded for Ibaka. They aren't trying to take a step back by losing Fournier.

Better player than D-Will imho. He's got better overall skills and he plays defense..I'd get this guy to play 2G, then he can pick up mins. at backup 3 as well.

Yeah, IMHO we need guys to play both 2 and 3 - 2/3 swing guys. I'd put Solomon Hill in that category.
I think Gerald Green might be one of those guys who slips thru the FA cracks and we can get for cheap as well. He played great for Hornacek in PHX, too.

One thing I like about Hill -- he shouldn't cost nearly as much as Crabbe, Bazemore, Batum, Fournier etc.. I read an article saying Hill could be had for a contract in the $7-9mm/year range..

Agree completely - and guys like Bazemore... would've been a minimum deal going into last season... no reason whatsoever to pay him $12M or something insane. You can find a cheap version of Bazemore. Bazemore is Atlanta's cheap version of DeMarre Carroll. No way Atlanta pays Bazemore...
