Thanks for the updates. Seems to be approaching things the right way with Rose. But man, I really don't want any part of Noah--want no part of paying that guy big money esp. anything long-term. His comments about being on the right track regarding targeting a big man RoLo replacement together with some other speculation out there that Phil likes Noah scares me. I mean you go make a big yet cap-friendly deal for Rose without sacrificing picks or future cap room only to piss money away on Noah? Doesn't make much sense. Keep cap open for no-brainer star power now or good young players with legit futures that are primed to take the next steps in their careers. I'm telling ya -- I see nothing wrong with bringing Jordan Bachynski aboard. I think he'd be effective and he'd come cheap. Together with Willy, that might be enough at the 5 for now.

what about Noah on a 1-yr deal? hard to criticize the move without knowing any particulars. Noah may want to rehab his value for a year similar to Rondo signing a 1 yr deal with SAC.

Yeah, I agree about Noah's contract length. But he does interest me because he's an insanely high level competitor to the degree that it seems contagious - he was benched in Chicago last year and I think that really contributed to their decline.

ALSO, his passing from the high post is GREAT. He might be the best passing center in the game.

I think he's worth it on a 1 and 1 deal. I'd hope he'd sign for around $10M... but I can't read the market this summer...

Like what? Yeah, I'd probably look at Pau Gasol first but if the whole team is built on Rose coming back to form or not, long-term contracts probably aren't in the works.

I'm down with getting Noah and would be fine with a 2 year deal and maybe even 3 cause he brings so much to a team defensively and rebounding and all energy all the time and is one of the best teammates you'll ever find in the NBA so change my mind.

Also they fired a top 5 coach and brought in someone who doesn't know what he's doing. That new coach benched Noah even when he was healthy.

Also Butler and DRose were feuding for control of the team.

I think the Bulls struggles were predominantly cultural.

I hear what you're saying, he does (did?) have some positives and makes some sense on paper but here's what I don't like -- 31 years old (32 next February mid-season), has intangibles but he's always been a limited skill player, never made it back from a shoulder tear after only 20-something games (what's that say for a guy whose whole game is predicated on banging and scrapping for everything he gets inside?), lost his starting gig before the season even started last year to Mirotic (what's that all about?), shot only 38% from the field and 48% from the FT line last year before he went down. Those numbers are BRUTAL and show major regression. How do you shoot less than 40% with a majority of your shots coming point blank?? I mean these are major concerns..

I covet cap flexibility moving forward more than anything, esp. with a team that's still nowhere near being championship caliber, even with Derrick Rose now...Jordan Bachynski is one option that fits the bill that I keep going back to--and this dude would come for the league minimum--to me, that's big. Could be an even higher intangible impact player than Noah at this point. A 1-yr deal for Noah to make some noise this year and see what happens but then regroup quickly/reassess everything next year + keep in line with Rose's expiring contract? Ok, I can see that even though I still don't like that he'd eat up so much cap room this year and probably future cap room as well (again, up to me, bring over Willy and sign Jordan Bachynski for the minimum -- that's real nice size and a nice offense/defense tandem right there. That could be all we need). Bottom line -- I like Jordan Bachynski plus two more NBA guards at whatever price we deem necessary to pay in order to get over Noah for say $15mm a pop and then limited cap space to add said guards. I'd prefer the flexibility be there to outbid anyone for those 2 additional guards I think we still need. With Noah, that flexibility won't be there. I also wouldn't mind seeing us carry over some cap space into next year's FA. So Noah on a 1 year deal? Fine, if that's what they want to do even though I don't like it -- but no way on a multi-year deal. I see the value in the Rose deal where he just expires if he doesn't work out after next season. Couldn't do the same with Noah on a 3-year deal. Being able to regroup quickly after Rose's contract expires only to then be saddled with Noah on a multi-year deal doesn't make sense to me.

Can't remember the last time we had a guard who could consistently get to the rim and finish. Marbury early on? We desperately needed a playmaker who could dribble drive like Rose or Westbrook

Except Rose doesn't finish anymore or draw fouls on his drives at an average rate.
