FTs, TOs, and low assists lower his efficiency, though. There's more to offensive than just scoring from the field. He still has a good offensive rating, though it's below Rolo's. We'd have a team with much bigger names but I'm not sure they'd win more.
One potential move nobody is taking about is Mozgov. If you look at his career stats and his per 36 min numbers they're virtually the same as Robin Lopez and last year when given the minutes in Cleveland he played well. I think we should look at Mozgov at least as a backup who could be signed for little cap space.

How is he physically at this point...and does he have knees which might act up again.
If he is healthy and we can get him at the right numbers, I could live with him.

You wanna talk about FT%? How about other teams getting into the penalty faster with Howard in the mix. You simply can't guard EVERYTHING when you have that many threats on the floor. How exactly does a team focus on any one aspect of the Knicks with Rose, Melo, KP and Howard on the floor? You end up with bad choices no matter what you do. Teams can't give help and not leave a deadly player open somewhere. You put KP and Rose in a High PnR, Melo behind the 3pt line and Howard Baseline and that just leaves way too much space to try and help and recover. God forbid they have a 3pt SG out there too.
Mind you i'm no fan of Howard and don't really want him but I can understand how they would see it as an option.

Yes, because Howard loves to be on the baseline and not be involve as a main component. Also, Those high PnRs with Rose defenses will just continue to go under the screens and negate the potential advantages.

and a LOT more downside
Forget upside and downside, just get Whiteside. For us now we need Holford or Hassan. If not get Gasol/Noah for 1 year if that doesn't work look at D12

I wouldn't mind getting Cole Aldrich back. There's definitely plenty of mid tier centers in free agency if we end up striking out on the big names.
