When your star player is happy.....And other star players are now interested......It was a good trade.

"Aren't looking at the future yet" is not true. Majority of Phils moves are for the present and future, especially this Rose trade.

We will see who we get and what the team looks like. Its not a trade I would have made but I get it. If we can land another big fish, maybe not a monster fish like Durant, but a smaller one like Batum it looks even better.

Its a long offseason with plenty for Phil to execute one. Really hard to judge this move in a vacuum. It was done to set up or be a part of other moves. Lets see the big picture.

This was not a draft I would have paid assets to get in to. It'd have been nice to buy a pick, but you have to assume they tried and couldn't get it done.

I think we know for a fact we'll get some pieces in FA. Just waiting to see who they might be.

We have heard that Noah and Jamal Crawford view the team more favorably with Rose. Could be others who feel the same.

I thought we would be more active in the draft. However I didn't see the kind of player movement or deals that suggested the Knicks should or could have been heavily involved in.

However the great value of Robin Lopez is something touted here by you mreinman and a couple others. If we saw anything from this draft (Thadeus Young trade) we learned Lopez's value is probably a late lottery mid #1, and there was not one player in this draft in that area I make that trade for.

Sure does look like Noah is coming...

For what it's worth, just read a report that the Warriors are interested in Noah, too. Wizards and T'Wolves are, too.

It's not like he's thought of as being done around the league. You'd monitor his minutes and not rely on him to be a 30mpg guy.

I would say that is about right for what lopez was worth (in the draft). We could have also stashed the pick or traded for a better player.

Rose to me is a lose lose and we needed to bring back real value, not low pct hope that even if lightning strikes, we can't / shouldn't keep him since he will command crazy dangerous money.

So what is the gain? That he makes us more attractive to FA's who we are certain are pining to play with him? lets see ...

Funny how Noah was one of the only players on the Bulls that tried recruit him when he went there, 2 yes later the shoe is one the other foot...crazy how life works. I'm a firm believer in what comes around goes around

the gain is we got the best guard we could. We didn't need a center but those seem more attainable, at the very least there are more to choose from. For guards we were looking at Conley. After that its Jennings, Rondo, it gets bad fast... Knicks gained plenty. You cant see it now so I will spare you the nixluva charts and graphs and say you will just have to disagree with Phil on this one and see how it pans out.

How is it a lose, lose scenario? We needed a push guard that could get to the basket and breakdown a defense. Rose was one of the top players at doing that and we didn't have that before. Is he perfect NO. But he's more than enough for Hornacek to work with.

Drives: Any touch that starts at least 20 feet of the hoop and is dribbled within 10 feet of the hoop and excludes fast breaks. Measures the total number of drives as well as the points, assists and shooting percentages on drives to the basket.
