Knicks · Melo needs to restructure his contract!! (page 2)

Melo should hold out for a renegotiation upward if anything. Smart or lucky GM's locked up a few players to longer term contracts in the past few years. These insane $ can be rationalized ($12 is the new $18) given the new caps but if you see a train coming you get out of the way by preparing not to get hit. In this rush to adjust, mistakes will be made and quickly lamented. Rosters are going to be top heavy with some dumb max deals and the back end will need to be filled more than ever with minimums. Not a free market but a rigged one, imagine what KP and Towns must be thinking besides hoping they stay healthy , good young talent has to wait while mediocrities gets these dumb deals. Imbalances galore

Except you can't, so why are we even talking about this?

Kind of a dead end thread.

Eh, the contract is less bad but I still would not want him taking up 1/4th of the team's total cap space. I wouldn't give out these other ridiculous contracts either. I'd go with small deals and save cap space (assuming we can't get KD). I bet by February, some teams will be willing to give up assets just to get out of these contracts. It would be great to have cap space and be able to absorb a bad contract with a lot of compensation added. I'd rather be the team that benefits from other teams' mistakes this off-season.
right... you would always to prefer to sign 3-4 really good player with the same money. Only problem is they dont exist.
