Knicks · Solomon Hill to the Pelicans (page 1)

4 years/$48mm with incentives that can bring it to $50mm. Bitterly disappointed we didn't even bother talking to this dude...Not that anyone around here really cares but just my 2 cents -- with the crazy money being thrown around (did the Blazers really give Evan Turner 4 years/$75mm??? ), that's a STEAL for this guy. Tremendous value for a player on the upswing. Funny, I wanted Cat Barber and Solomon Hill for the Knicks and that's exactly who the Pels went out and got. I'd be shocked if Barber didn't make that club btw. If he plays well in SL which I fully expect, the Pels will sign him w/o a doubt--he's already got one foot in the door. What value for nothing--just a summer league invite. Barber might wind up being the best PG in this draft class and he wasn't even drafted!! Just smart acquisitions, both players. How the hell did Phil and co. not see the value in either guy???? I can't wait to watch as many New Orleans games as possible this season.

Hoping we can keep Lance Thomas who is a better shooter and similar in other areas for less money. We have more pressing needs than spending that amount of money on another combo forward who can't shoot.

Disagree. Did you see the growth from Hill over the last month or so of the season into the playoffs? The man has developed into a quality shooter--all he needs now is more opportunity to show what he can really do. Clear as day. And that's only one impressive aspect to his game. Go take a look at his playoff numbers and then get back to me on whether he can shoot the ball or not. He should've gotten more shots in that series against Toronto. The guy is a quality versatile all-around player who's on the cusp and he's just entering his prime. And he's a 2/3 swingman, not a combo forward, although he's strong and versatile enough where he probably could play some 4 against certain teams. Larry Bird is kicking himself for letting this guy get away, believe me. Much better player than Lance Thomas.

You can't judge a player's shooting ability on a handful of playoff games. He didn't just magically turn into a good shooter as soon as playoffs came around. He has the ability to step up his game in the playoffs and that is great, but he has to have a larger sample size to prove his improvement as a shooter. I don't really see him as a 2. I see him as a 3 who can play some small-ball 4.

Didn't Jerome James have a nice playoff run when Isiah decided to sign him?
