They just leaped past Toronto in my opinion. Pacers are much improved as well.

The bigger question is does this entice Durant?

Durant on that team in the east would be scary.

Can't see why the C's would be a more enticing than the Warriors...

I think the Pacers are the 2nd best team in the East on paper. I love what they have done this offseason.

the celtics are a squeeze blood from a stone type of team. they outwork you. but they are not a "talented" team and the horford signing doesn't really change that. they will still have to rely on isiah thomas to score to win playoff games. that's not enough.

pacers will be tougher to guard but they lost alot of defense. so their identity will change. still debatable if they made enough changes to effect things drastically.

NBA TV says Horford agrees to 4 yr 113M with Boston!
How sweet it is!

+1 - Well said. I wonder how Horford will fit in. He may have packed it in at the end of this season but he was really lazy last yr. Especially on the boards. He will need to put forth some effort or it will create a gap on D and board for the Celtics.

Great signing. Horford is worth every dang penny.

Celtics could be tough

Though I do think they'll miss Turner.

ET was LOVED here, and it's sad to see him go.
But IMO Jaylen Brown will make fans forget about him.

Celtics have a big Georgia / Atlanta connection going on right now:
1) Horford has played his entire career with the Hawks

2) RJ Hunter went to Georgia Tech and his father is the coach there

3) Jaylen Brown is from Atlanta, Georgia and his high school team famously went to the national championship

Thank you Georgia!!!!

The Celtics had finished KD meeting and were on the plane already.

But as the jet prepared to take off, a phone rang and delivered the news the Celtics, their fans, and their city have been waiting for: Al Horford had accepted Boston’s four-year, $113 million maximum-salary contract offer. The pilot was asked to pull to the side of the runway, a source said, and when the call ended, there was a celebration.
The fans and winning culture mean A LOT.

Horford’s father, Tito, said in a telephone interview Saturday night that his son had narrowed his choices down to the Hawks and the Celtics. As the family discussed the options, the conversation often returned to the uncommon passion of Boston’s fans.
"There wasn’t as much motivation for him when he saw all the empty seats when they were winning," Tito Horford said. "He said to me, ‘Dad, when we were playing Boston, they were down 15 points and they were cheering their team like they were winning the game. They’re so into the game.’ This is special for us, especially for him."
Decision independent from KD, but would love to play with him and other guys.

Tito Horford said Durant would certainly be a "big fish." But he said his son did not mention the possibility of Durant joining him in Boston and stressed that it was not the reason he chose the Celtics.

"He just said ‘Right now, I’m excited,’ " Tito Horford said. "He said, ‘I’m going to play for the Celtics, Dad. I don’t know who else they might get, but I’m here, and I’m hoping for the best.’ "

GS doesn't need scoring. They need interior D. Celts need scoring

This is definitely a nice move for celts but I wouldn't overreact

Team still has issueS IMO.
