He does not pass the ball and as a starter he would have learn how to be much better passer. He also attempts very few free throws

compared to who? What type of litmus test are you putting out there?

Lee had more FTA and assists than Danny Green, compatible type of role.

assists were the same. Green has much better advanced stats and he has a different role being a spot up three point shooter. He takes double the number of attempts from 3 and shoot > 40%

Lee's WS48 is under average and assists and FTA's should help him, as well as getting more FT attempts.

Passing passing passing ... needs to pass at least better than AA, no?

Lee doesn't stop the ball and hold it for as long nor as often as AA. Lee also moves better and is more athletic, so his game fits into what JH wants to do. Then you have his defense which is vastly superior to AA. Lee is better for this roster. We shouldn't evaluate in a vacuum. It's about fit for THIS roster not last season's.

This is the only Knicks transaction that I'm not totally comfortable with. Understand it's all about fit and jelling as a unit but a 4 yr 50 mill for a role player is a bit extreme.I understand the salaries are crazy now but is this guy that much better than Lance Thomas.
The #'s are pedestrian and not exactly hearing he's a lockdown defender.
Don't mind being wrong, hopefully I am on this dude.

To me this is a way better deal than Thomas. Courtney is at least a proven commodity and been on some talented teams getting playing time. Would Lance Thomas say regular playing time on the Spurs warriors or Cavs?

Probably not.

Also note that this is not far from shumperts 4 yr 40 mill deal.

Well Lance's deal is great and Shump's deal is terrible.

Don't love the signing in a vacuum either, but he really really fits. JH wants some veteran guards, he NEEDS some veteran guards. That is the hardest spot on the floor to coach, has the most moving parts and options and requires the highest IQ. Rose/Lee/Jennings gives the coach some really needed parts he can steer. I see Lee as a stop gap until we get a better player. Its a lot to pay for a guy whos really just there to be a stabilizer, but I do get it. His game and role really fit well with what we have and are trying to accomplish.
