Knicks · Former all-stars and moderate talent player...why? (page 1)

I want the Knicks to win, but Rose reminds me of McDyess and Noah is not who he was. Mr Lee for 12.5 a year? I'd rather they missed out putting all of their eggs in the Durant basket and try again for big FAs next year than have spent this way...long term money on the hope of short-term...what, playoff run?

Rose can't be McDyess because he's on the final year of his contract!!!

Noah will bounce back after a nice long layoff to rest his knees. He was coming back after a knee surgery last year and wasn't at full strength. That's why Phil is confident in this move.

Knicks will still have money next year to add a Free Agent.

These were good moves for the Knicks. High upside and very low downside since we have picks!!!

Max guys don't want to go to losing teams. Need to build some momentum. If we become a playoff team next year, chances of adding a max player increases. We will have the money. 2010 taught us guys just don't come. You need to have a winning team and momentum.

I couldn't agree more with you. Make not mistake, I LOVE THIS TEAM but I gotta say, I have severe doubts about this approach. Just feels like a cobble-together like we've seen so many times before. I liked the Rose deal--I'm with the team there (we have a quick out if it doesn't work)--but the rest? Noah and Lee? 4 more years before we can turn the page from those two. Why not look at guys like Joe Johnson/bring back Afflalo if we're looking to win now?? Hey man, I hope it works, I really do but even best case scenario, does this team scream 'championship' to anyone? So what was the point then? We did nothing with the latter part of the draft or right after the draft with the better of the UDFAs (poor judgment/foresight not getting involved much more with this one particular way of adding to the roster seeing how we could've used a few nice young/cheap pieces with upside to round out and balance out this roster right now), Noah/Lee was just a real odd way to spend the bulk of our money this offseason imo, we put a joke of a summer league team together and we have little money for a bench right now... Dear God, I hope I'm wrong--I wanna to be wrong!! I wanna see some winning basketball more than anyone but if this doesn't work, there may not be anything sustainable here and it could be just another hole that will take us time to fully dig out of or God forbid we revert to what we've done in the past and continue digging the hole deeper by adding more questionable salaries to the mix. I was willing to be patient and build the team the right way, with lasting/sustainable parts...Hey, let's hope this works -- it was a quick retool around Melo. Let's hope all these guys stay relatively healthy, KP shows a decent amount of growth his 2nd year and we can make more noise with this club than I'm thinking. Trying to remain positive.

This. Exactly this.

2017 FA just got a helluva lot more interesting. The Durant move will have echoes and aftershocks next summer.

Phil put the Knicks in position to have a great winning team this season that will make them very enticing to a guy like, oh, say... Russell Westbrook.

These moves have the potential to push the Knicks into the top 4 in the East. Why not take that chance while you have Melo? This was the summer to try this kind of plan. One run with quality vets and afterwards KP is still young!!!

You say be patient and build the right way but HOW? We didn't have enough of our picks to have done this. Going forward this should help KP to be playing meaningful games and getting playoff experience.
