Update: the Knicks have rescinded the $2.7 million qualifying offer to Langston Galloway, per league sources. This was likely done to fit Brandon Jennings' deal into cap space. This doesn't preclude the Knicks from re-signing Galloway but makes it a bit more difficult. The club has not renounced free agent Lance Thomas, so it can use Early Bird rights to sign him to a deal worth a max of approximately $6.2 million.

This makes me happy. Means they are still chasing Williams.
SocraticBallin22 @ 7/4/2016 6:24 PM
Makes sense. I like Gallo, but let's be honest, is he worth the 2.7 million? Or better yet, is he worth keeping for that amount, as opposed to signing Jennings as the backup PG for one year and 5 million? The answer is no. Wonder how much a team would offer him as an UFA? Could still see him signing with us at a veteran, one year deal.

This also makes keeping DWILL--much needed scoring off the bench--still in play.

great the only defensive guard on the roster. Smart Phil just smart.

You have to make some sacrifices in this game. He may still be brought back cuz we have the Room Exception.

?? May I introduce you to Courtney Lee?

Are the Knicks able to re-sign Galloway once the QO is rescinded?

Touche', He slipped my mind. Good call. Only young defensive guard.

On RealGM I proposed the question of using the Room exception to resign Gallo for 1yr until they have full bird rights but I doubt it happens.

Yeah but it is harder.

I would be really sad to see him go... hope they can re-sign him.

yellowboy90 @ 7/4/2016 6:40 PM
All because they let him play over 2000 minutes which made his QO go up to $2.7m

They still have his Early Bird Rights I understand. Just can't match any offer. There's still hope.

maybe this opens the door for Seth Curry as I believe we could only keep one of those type of players on the roster
We may get a MLE or BI ANNUAL EXEMPTION to use as well as whatever is left with cap holds/cap space

There will always be a possible Derrick Rose and 2 1st rounders for Westbrook probably through out the season as well
Though Phil would need a guarantee from him that he would in fact resign for the MAX

Tony Douglas
Jarrett Jack
Vasquez

Ian Clark
Troy Daniels (currently RFA)

I think we need some stability on our roster with younger guys that will be part of our roster moving forward

begley reports on espn that the galloway move was made in order to extend the length of henangomez's contract. clarence gaines (can i get an amen?) and jackson may have found another gem and are investing in the knicks longer-term future.

in essence this is justifiable but i am still a fan of galloway and wish him the best success.

Begley is speculating that the move was so the Knicks can sign Willy to a longer deal then the room exception.
nychamp @ 7/4/2016 7:17 PM
Like Gallo but he is overrated as a defender, though acceptable. Just looked beter alongside Calderon. Hopefully this can aid us in resigning DWill, though it may be a pipe dream.
