Knicks · Chasson Randle may make Knicks team... (page 2)

Looks like Gallo is on the verge of signing with Pelicans on a multi-year deal. We could not have afforded to give him that and dip into cap space for 2017.

Randle could be a young, viable (and cheap) replacement for the Knicks. Remember, Gallo went undrafted and was on no teams radar besides the Knicks. He was not projected to be an NBA rotation player and we groomed him into one.

Randle has similarities to Gallo: Smart kid, comes from a good school. High basketball IQ. Prolific scorer in college on a small team (Stanford). More of a combo guard learning point guard position.

The difference is I think Randle has more offensive potential than Gallo: He is a better pure shooter; he is better at creating his own shot. He has better point guard instincts and makes teammates better.

(Although Gallo is a much better defender with a stronger frame and more active hands defensively)

Really curious about this kid and taking a flier on him. Maybe groom him in the D league for a while, like we did with Gallo, and call him up at some point.

I agree all around.

I think that If Baker shoots better he is very similar to Galloway with his tenacious defense and long arms. Randle reminded me yesterday of a righthanded Mike Conley. He was terrific. How did the two of them do today?

I like Baker and Randle and hope they make the roster. Guards that can shoot and play smart should be useful in a pinch.

I posted this in the game thread -

22pt 9rebs 5ast 5stl for Baker today on 8/15 fg, 4/9 from 3

17pts 4ast 3reb 2stl 1blk for Randle

I agree - I think the Knicks will basically look to split Galloway's role between Randle and Baker. We also have the depth of Holiday and Jennings. Maybe Sasha back, too?

As of the moment, have 4 roster spots to fill.. somebody is coming.

I like Randle, Baker, Plumlee and either Summers or Tokoto.

Summers no like. Tokoto's floater is epic bad.

The first three, though, GIVE.

Agree with Randle, Plumlee. Bring them to camp. Baker has been horrible until today but seems like he knows how to play. Not feeling anyone else on the summer roster.

Baker looked like a different player next to a PG. You have to see these in context, as opposed to writing them off after a couple bad shooting games

It is clear some fans think all NBA players have to be superior athletic freaks who should dominate any non-NBA game they are in.

There are good NBA players than make a living not by being the alpha dog, but being good, complimentary 5th guys on the floor. Their game elevates as the game of the players surrounding them does.

Knowing where to be and what to do should the ball find you can go a LONG way in the NBA.

Not saying Baker is one of those players, just that they exist and it's possible.
