Wow, they must really like him

They have to fill out the end of their bench with cheap deals. Hinskie move
I'm so happy. Some bashed me for talking up Marshall but it's clear I wasn't off base. The kid is much better than some people thought. As I said he's big, athletic, quick footed, agile and more skilled offensively than some thought. Now I'm hoping they lock up Baker and Randle.
I like it. We get a tough and smart big that we can groom with Willy. I guess Seraphin is a goner.

Dont pat yourself too hard. he's filler
Man what was the rush there for ?? Dont they want to view other players---Las Vegas hasnt even started yet?? What did he do in any game that warranted a guaranteed contract as of today? The only UDFA that deserved a guaranteed contract--and I watched a lot of this was Christian Wood. Plumlee wasnt even the best UDFA C in Orlando by a long shot. Hes a 2nd round pick who couldve been given an opportunity to come to camp with a partial guarantee that spoon fed to Westchester where he needs to be.

I hope so. Marshall is much faster and better defensively. For how JH wants to play uptempo he's a better fit. Screen and roll man that can also face up or post. His energy level is better than Seraphin. Cheap with a little upside.
Baker will soon be next, I assume.
Wonder what Phil thinks of Randle from what he's seen.
When first year is guaranteed, it means if the knicks waive him, he still counts against our salary cap?

So let me get this straight Briggs, you like this Christian Wood kid?
i suspect Baker will sign a similar deal. As will any of the young players that will fill out the 4 roster spots they have left.
This is a cap move.
I expect Plumlee to spend a good amount of time in Westchester working on his offensive game.

Sorry but you aren't thinking about the role Marshall fills. A true center that can defend, set screens, roll and finish, face up or post and run the floor is something JH needs and wants. This kid is a ball of energy and physical. He's not perfect but he fills a clear role.
This is a clever way of generating trade assets out of thin air. Trading him for a second round with a team looking to just get under the cap or she'd salary for a bigger move.

Nothing. Knicks simply need a big body and cheap filer since they have little upfront and little cap. Small guarantee monies for a year , monies that they could eat if he's a total flop and they get to have for two more years if he can give them some mins.
Multi-year deal with only the first guaranteed. I'm glad we stopped giving out the one year deals with no team options. If we do find a gem, let's be in position to reap the reward!

Yes, but irrelevant.
Assuming he's being signed to a minimum deal, it's cap neutral.
Knicks are already at the cap.. Plumlee, Baker, whomever else will be signed to minimal deals above the cap. So they count, but it doesn't matter.

Seems like
speculation only, but this should annoy you Briggs.

Exactly. Its what Hinskie did with youngsters and margianl vets who had little leverage to the angst of agents. In the past we've given partial guarantees or one year deals to some bigs without any retention rights. Most just faded . Cant even remeber the big a few years back who everyone was so high on

No he is fine for the vet minimum. He played well towards the end of the year.

Wouldn't mind Sasha coming back. Good for locker room and practice. Good mentor.
