Someone to give hard fouls, someone to spell the bigs if some of them are hurting. If you get any consistent production out of Plumlee at this price, its gravy. I like the idea of keeping Noah as healthy as possible for the playoffs. They're going to run a lot, and that's going to tax Noah's knees to some degree.

My own feeling is that if you're not going to institute a true minor league system, the roster should be expanded to 18, with the final three getting minimum salaries which allow a team to retain them while they play in the DL.

Exactly. Its what Hinskie did with youngsters and margianl vets who had little leverage to the angst of agents. In the past we've given partial guarantees or one year deals to some bigs without any retention rights. Most just faded . Cant even remeber the big a few years back who everyone was so high on

I think that's one ask the Players should make in the upcoming negotiations. Add at least one D-League roster spot per team. A guy who can be on the roster but shuttle back and forth freely between the D-league. It'd add 30 NBA player jobs.

If he could shoot like he was doing at the end of the year he would be a big plus for the team. I just need some consistency from him. I was happy with him early in the year and later, but in between, he could have joined the Bricklayer Union without any kind of training.

One thing though - Phil has made an obvious effort to take care of the guys who plans to send to Westchester. We had the trio last season with partial guarantees to offset the D-League salary. Curious to see how he handles the rest of our invites. I agree that the NBA needs to shit or get off the pot when it comes to the D-League.

Yeah, that starting stretch with Calderon was brutal. He did finish the season strong. As long as Sasha has a limited role, isn't pushed to do too much, he would be a good addition.

I'm talking about following the Hinkie model. I don't think Phil is treating our guys like inventory the way Hinkie/Morey seem to conduct business.
But yes, we had to waive the D-League guys after an under the table deal to keep them within the organization. Definitely needs a rehaul.

Well cant anyone sign Plumlee? I mean we have no rights.. so the rush is you want to sign him before another team does. Seems Knick's FO disagrees with your evaluation of him, or they see something you don't, or they really like him and think the marginal differences in skill sets vs. other players are trumped by his work ethic or something else they like about him. They made sure they could control his future a bit and paid for that... something they didn't do with Galloway.

Team option, came out earlier today that Celts would guarantee him and Amir Johnson before the deadline ends today. If he became a fa, not usre what his price would have been. I would have thought at least a L Thomas deal but many teams may have spent much of their budget. High energy 6 10" player who can hit threes like Novak but actually compete on boards and D end. Mention Jerebo a few days back as a potential target , just read that Milly Comatas or whatever his name is has been compared to him

Well that's it in a nutshell isn't it? The Knicks HAVE seen enough. They have seen him in practice as well as the games and don't assume that the games are the complete picture of how they evaluate a players potential. Plumlee has the traits necessary to be a good player in the way JH likes his bigs to play. I predict he could be more successful playing with our Big Team talent where he will benefit from the attention they draw. It's a bit different how he would look in an NBA game verses SL. He just needs to handle the basics. Box out, Rebound, Defend and Set Screens with his big body.

Phil and his team have seen a hell of a lot more from him then we see in a few summer league games and have spoken to him so i guess they've seen what they need to sign him or they wouldn't sign him. I think it's always good to take a chance on players that have bloodlines with family that have played in the same sport.
