I have to see a lot more from him to be convinced he's an NBA talent.
Phil and his team have seen a hell of a lot more from him then we see in a few summer league games and have spoken to him so i guess they've seen what they need to sign him or they wouldn't sign him. I think it's always good to take a chance on players that have bloodlines with family that have played in the same sport.

Equally applies here.
A bit premature to use SL as any litmus test at all.
Knicks brought these players in because they watched game film, scouted them and brought them in for workouts, and in addition to the actual SL games, they've been practicing and scrimmaging.
I don't think the Knicks are going to base any decisions on the results of some scrimmage games. It might be a venue to earn a training camp invite. But I doubt anyone is playing themselves off whatever the Knicks had planned to do.

EXACTLY! Gotta be careful with SL performance as we all know from past history. I trust the Knicks scouts even more than Phil. He even admits that they're better at evaluating raw talent than he is. He's much more capable and comfortable with NBA talent that he pays more attention to. In any event it's not like it's a major commitment that has huge risk attached.

I assume they were seeing more in the practices than they were in the, eh, games.

Just by watching this guy in summer league, he doesn't look very good. Very robotic, slow footed, and not athletic likes his bros. I'm sure he's a swell guy but Devon Booker is better than him.
Believe brother Miles Plumlee is still a free agent, maybe Knicks pulling a Jr & Chris Smith kind of move.
BRIGGS@ 7/7/2016 11:27 PM
In practice he seems to have really nice form. In a game--not even close. Game and practice are two different things. He was ok in the games--robotic slightly awkward was only ok rebounding the ball. So I think you take these games and get a good glimpse of players. Its only a piece of the puzzle but hes an older player--I think 24 so it wouldve been nice if he showed more skill.

Strange you had him so high up on your draft board as a second round pick...

And he gets injuried twice the last game. Finished the game in the locker room. Next day guy gets a 3yr contract (only 1st yr guaranteed) Very strange..stay tuned

#52 is high? Hes a low 2nd rd draft pick. There no chance I wouldve given him a contract unless he proved it in the games. I want to see some bonafides in live action==like Allen Iversen said--you talkin bout practice. Game speed ans skills are a different beast.

Btw Miles Plumlee posted a picture of himself in Soho 4hrs ago on social media...just saying

So you don't think he needs more time to adjust to game speed? Marshall has the right talent and skills for how JH wants to play. I don't know why you have to piss on him when you clearly weren't at practice or any of his workouts with the Knicks. If you base everything off of SL games perhaps you will miss things that the Knicks have seen. From what i've seen the kid has not looked bad.
Missing a few shots that were right on target doesn't necessarily equate with your view that he looked good in practice but not in games. He's not expected to be a star from day one. He's a prospect. I watched the games and he did not look bad in every game. What you're suggesting is that you somehow know better than Phil, Gaines, Hornacek and everyone else on the Knicks staff!!!

Okay, so you place a high premium on summer games after 3-4 days of practice.
Got it.
TLover@ 7/8/2016 12:04 AM
Who knows if we get Miles to go along with Marshal; we could trade Kyle O'Quinn for Mason Plumlee and have all 3 brothers on the same team..funny but not so far fetched. Portland can throw in Shabazz Napier (works on trade checker) He was just acquired for cash and can be flipped.

I think I saw enough Duke games this year to get it. I also had him at 52 when he was unranked by every publication. I saw nothing to guarantee him a contract. I wouldve already signed Christian Wood to a 3-4 year deal--whatever the longest deal for a rookie I could sign him to. Its a no brainer--I cant think of one skill Plumlee is better or even close to being better at than Wood. Wood is more of a 2016 C-PF NBA type as well--the ability to play both positions. I watched both over 50 minutes each over 3 games--its not close. Our young C is Willy G. There is NO way Willy G is as skilled in game as Christian Wood--there is no way he would hit 5 three's under any condition in game versus this caliber of athlete--he can block 4-5 shots in a 15 minute span--its not close. Wood and Willy wouldve been much better than Plumlee and Willy.
BRIGGS@ 7/8/2016 1:09 AM
I wish they had defensive highlights because that was impressive tonight--but three times in 15 minutes Wood took the ball from beyond the 3 point line--used a head fake and dribble drive for dunks. You could see his length and dribbling ability. Also through 50 minutes 5-9 from 3 point land. This is why we should have played it cool with signing any young player--I mean Plumlee is 4 years older and light years away skill wise. Plumlee can shoot a 3 in practice--oh yeah at 47 so can I. But Wood can do it in a game of athletes.

He looks great. Hopefully the Knicks give him a shot with one of their open spots.

We already have 3 Cs with Noah Willy G and Kyle Oquinn. Woods is perfect to play on unit 2 behind KP because you are getting similar style of play.

Do you have anything to add besides sarcasm? Surprised mods are letting it fly for this long.
I feel Plumlee doesn't really do anything for our roster. He might get a camp invite. That's about it

That wasn't sarcasm. i was genuinely acknowledging understanding Briggs actually places value on 3-5 summer league games.

It's never too early for some Plumlee Love!
Tommy Dee
We've been talking a lot recently about the Knicks' final roster decisions and one name to take out of those who may be in jeopardy is Marshall Plumlee, who continues to get rave reviews from inside the Knicks organization.
Javascript is not enabled or there was problem with the URL: https://twitter.com/nyknicks/status/784941307550728193
Teammates continue to praise Plumlee, who appreciate his willingness, and more importantly acceptance, of doing the little things. It's not like Plumlee can't score, he's shown some polished post moves and terrific finishing ability, with strength, at the rim.
Plumlee will add depth to a big man rotation of Joakim Noah, Kyle O'Quinn and fellow rookie Willy Hernangomez and from all accounts Hornacek will deploy a three player rotation of O'Quinn, Hernangomez and Plumlee throughout the early stages of the season depending on who plays the best. From an effort and energy standpoint, Plumlee sits right on top of that list and what he lacks in talent, he makes up with other intangibles.
Basketball is a family affair for the Plumlee's. Marshall's two brothers, Miles and Mason, are also in the NBA. The baby of the family signed a three-year contract in July with the Knicks and the first year of the deal is guaranteed, as reported by Mike Scotto of SheridanHoops.com.That means fans clamoring for their favorite young player to make the roster can exclude cutting Plumlee from their plans as he's firmly entrenched on the Knicks roster.
The Knicks will have to make decisions on Lou Amundson, Chasson Randle, Maurice Ndour and Ron Baker as they attempt to trim their roster down before they open up in Cleveland on October 25th.
