Knicks · This made more sense than KD, IMO (page 1)

For one thing I don't think we had a shot at KD, what most likely happened was KD told Melo "go ahead bro I ain't going there" Then Melo told Phil. This gave us the biggest advantage in regards to that meetings they had together cause then we had a head start ahead of other teams still thinking they had a chance for KD.

But think about it, did KD really make sense with Melo and KP? How would it have worked? I guess KD could have played SF and Melo at PF, but KD is basically a better version of Melo. They are very similar players, it just wouldn't have worked. Space would have been clogged up on offense.

The FA we got and balance of skills is much better than what we would have had.

Phil did a good job. He knew that if he took a chance on injured all-star players, it was a win win for him. Even if Rose and Noah fall apart and our record turns to crap, WE STILL HAVE A PICK! It's a win-win guys!

I and some others here all talked about how KD would be a clumsy fit with melo and KP, but when people hear a player of kd's caliber is interested in their team they're often willing to jump through a lot of hoops to make it work.

In the end I think it had a chance to hurt porzingis development and that was something I was never really comfortable with.

You MAKE Kevin Durant work.

I like the Knicks offseason just fine and I don't fault anyone for Durant not making NY his choice.

But if he wanted to come here, you do it and don't think twice.

Im not denying KD is an awesome player. He def is. If we had been able to trade melo I think we could have gotten KD. KD prob knew it made no sense from a team standpoint.

This is only the 15 millionth time this has been brought up. Glad we can keep revisiting now that KD punked out and went the safe route.

KD is not like Melo.

Does KD play bully ball?
Does KD NOT get calls?

KD could play SG and it would have worked. KD, LeQueen stratosphere players, they play any position.

Actually, KD not coming to NYC says more about Melo than it does about KD. Melo's still the only superstar who wanted to come here, and actually did.

Yes. As to making it work...

KD - SF
Melo - PF
KP - C

That's an athletic front court that I'd I have enjoyed watching on the court.

But as fans, we have to deal with what we've got. I'm hoping they live up to the potential to be in the top half of hte playoffs, but I'm not placing any bets.

KD did the new standard, which is get together with other all-stars with the goal of winning multiple rings. In his case he needed new all-stars and he and Westbrook clearly weren't tight. Who wouldn't want to play for the Warriors if they could right now? And who wouldn't want KD? The new cap gave the Warriors and option they wouldn't have had last off-season and they jumped on it. No hard from me, but I don't care about now that it's done. He's not on the Knicks and the Warriors aren't the Knicks.

Yeah, who really wanted KD anyway!!!
(I did)
I mean, where would he play??
(any where he wanted to)
Dude is a wuss, we don't want no wussy knick players!!!
(Sure we do)
LeBron is a wussy, we don't want him!!
(Dude pick you up, take you to finals)
WE the Mecca!

You could say the same for GS...KD is a better version of Green & Klay.....only thing is that you have shooters all over the court and you can't guard everybody

Not buying it. KD is versatile enough that he could be teammates with anyone on the planet.

Agreed. He was pretty open that he didn't want to be in a situation where he didn't have to do heavy lifting every night. This wasn't going to be that situation and that is okay. What's good is that he was open with Melo about it and we were able to make moves to improve the team while others went to a circle jerk in the Hamptons when they never really had a chance.
