Knicks · Westbrook close to an extension with OKC (page 2)

Can we all agree that based on what we know now, the Derrick Rose trade was our best PG upgrade option(assuming Grant doesn't blow up and become a star). And what's the countdown on the "we should sign Chris Paul" next season talk?

I always thought Westbrook was a bright lights big city guy.

he's staying because he's not a pussy like LeBron was or Durant is

durant is a **** for leaving? He left because of westbrook. He does not have to stay or play with a guy that is hard to play with.

He hasn't said that and Westbrook wanted him to stay. The only thing I have read at all critical was that it was 'reported' that he wanted to play in a more free flowing offense like the Warriors. I don't think there was ever a source identified for that report.

I didn't call him a **** for leaving I called him a pussy for leaving. Taking hte easy road with consideration for your fans makes Durant a pussy in my book and makes me love Westbrook.

I'll be rooting for OKC anytime they play The Golden boys. I guess if your one of the few to choke away a 3-1 lead in a playoff series, you blame your team mates and join the team that beat you.

bottom line westbrook doesn't make others around him better no matter what numbers he accumulates. he's got to be the whole show, and that has a negative impact on other players who are themselves quite capable of making others better, such as durant. durant will be freer to develop his playmaking potential now.

okc's front office has an interesting and perhaps insurmountable challenge building around a weird player like westbrook.

Nalod @ 8/5/2016 1:36 AM
......and the money is good. Westbrook has security and can also request a trade.
Y'all have a super romantic notion that Russell is super in love with OKC.

As far as Durant, He don't have to play with the ball hogging Westbrook. I don't hate on Durant. the guy wants to move on and Westbrook's game is impressive, but it also has limits. Why did OKC blow the lead? What happened? Besides Draymonds ball slapping events, Westbrook kind of goes spazz mode in the 4th quarter.

Im not super thrilled about Durant to Warriors, but OKC like other teams that has lost major players kind of was a year too late regarding putting the pressure on Durant to either extend or trade him.

This is why I'm glad we got Rose and Jennings.

It's never a guarantee in Free Agency.

Phil did the best he could this summer. The Rose trade was good because it set up all the other moves. If the Knicks win then they are a better destination for free agents in the future at the same time the team has a chance to win now as built. So at this time the Knicks aren't waiting on a savior FA to come in the future.

I think one or both guys end up with the Knicks beyond next season.

Yeah, I agree. I have a sneaking suspicion it'll be Jennings. Who knows. It'd be great if both guys found a home here.

My only issue with the rose trade was the return. I felt like we should have gotten back at least a protected 1st. I really liked the jennings signing, low risk high reward

That would've been nice but even the 2nd rd pick we did get was fine. Other teams wanted a 1st and I believe Phil's accepting the 2nd rd pick made it work. I can live with that. It was MUCH more important to address the hole at PG and start the ball rolling. That deal made the entire summer fall in line for this team. Noah and Lee were aided greatly by the Rose trade.

its a wait and see type trade considering roses injury history. We still should have gotten more

I think it's always easy to say this but in trades like this where the Knicks are trying to get to another level and there really aren't many other good options it's better not to play around trying to get more out of the deal and possibly KILL the deal. This was a deal that needed to be made. Now that we see the results of the moves it was a good deal. Hopefully they have a great season and then it's an even better deal that could lead to better Free Agents next summer and after.

Why? The Knicks gave up no future picks. They got a future second round pick and got a one year trial with Rose. This isn't like the Dyess trade or Bargs. The Knicks won 32 games last year. There wasn't a lot of talent on that team. The trade led to guys singing here in free agency.

At the very least, we should have gotten the right to a pick swap in next year's draft. I still think the Bulls will end up with a worse record and pick higher than us. And by all accounts this draft will be stacked, so I'd love to pick as high as possible. Wonder what we'd have to give up to coax the Kings or Pelicans into that type of arrangement?
