Knicks · WE'RE BACK BABY!!!! (page 1)

Looks like the TV Networks really like the New New York Knicks!

CrushAlot @ 8/11/2016 6:29 PM
Awesome. 1/3 of their games are on national tv.

So we are getting back the attention. Hope all is going well.
nixluva @ 8/11/2016 11:09 PM
Knicks have fewer back to backs. YAY!

Moonangie @ 8/12/2016 10:03 AM
Hopefully we don't have those nationally televised games retracted (e.g., due to injury-produced suckiness). But if our players stay healthy, this is really encouraging.
Rookie @ 8/12/2016 10:26 AM
It's just the the networks staking their bet that the Knicks will become a drama filled circus side show rather then relevant at basketball. If the Knicks stay professional they will cancel the games just like they do every year since the Knicks have become stable and drama free
SupremeCommander @ 8/12/2016 10:27 AM
i don't know if "we're back" is the right way to put it. These TV guys know that if the Knicks are mediocre they'll get ratings because we'll watch mediocre basketball and there are millions of us

That said, as someone who lives out of market, I'm pumped

That last 3 posts are very interesting takes on things. You guys sound like battered fighters. Broken spirits and all. Just can't accept some good news without a tinge of negativity huh? TV is 100% about ratings and they put the Knicks in prime spots because they believe this team is gonna be entertaining again.

Just think about it. The Knicks have 4 starters that are immediately recognizable. Rose, Melo, KP and Noah are players with enough of a reputation that would garner respect from the Networks. There's no reason to have to feel sorry or otherwise qualify the meaning of this return to National TV.

Nix, I'm not sure lumping my post in with the negs who followed me is fair: I said it will be "encouraging" IF our starters remain healthy. If they repeat their fragility of the past few seasons, I expect the ESPN/ABC/TNT schedules will get revised.

But I'm stoked for the attention and feel like it will motivate our starters in the way only a national audience can.

I'll still pay for the NBA package with direct tv though but it's nice to see us getting some love.

Exactly, the hate is exhausting on here. I know the Nets have room to add fans so maybe the all time haters should slide on over.

feel free to call it negative but I think it's realistic. there is a reason that guys like Sir Charles freak out when the Knicks are overexposed based on their talent level.

I do think this team has talent but there is significant injury risk and the team hasn't been a team yet. It remains to be seen if the pieces fit. I don't think this squad has done anything to earn being televised more than Toronto, Miami, Boston, San Antonio or Portland... I also think the OKC storyline is pretty compelling.

The reason--the exclusive reason--the Knicks got as many games as they did was because of ratings. Any other argument requires nix's rose colored glasses

NO! I think it's fair to say that Melo and KP are clear talents in this league and we've just added Rose, Noah, Lee and Jennings to the crew. How is that not reason for anyone to expect that this team is gonna be much improved???

Sure you can fall back on the injury history stuff, but that is not about the talent the players actually have. You can't assume to know how many games these players will play this year. That actually goes for any player since injury is not always something you can predict. If there are injuries then we can address that but until that time we have to judge the team based on the talent and how the players fit together. In terms of fit these players make sense together.

Rose played more games than Kyrie last year.....Everybody miss games.....they make too much money to risk playing through injuries like they did in the 90's.....So being injury prone doesn't hold water anymore.....if that was the case 90% of NBA players are injury prone, since nobody plays a full season anymore.....

Looks like financially the GM hiring is already paid off for Dolan.

Yes that is a big deal. Hated being a laughing stock and not having national TV games. This change is not for no reason. Obviously the networks expect a much improved Knicks team or else why put them in prime spots? This should be a good Knicks team. I like the Balance, Depth, Talent, Experience and Fit of these players. I like the Coach and his approach to the game. It should be a very exciting season if all works out as it should.

I doubt the networks are expecting a title contender from us. I think the rise of KP is the biggest reason why we have some more prime spots

I think the networks expect a very exciting team that has a lot of talent!!! IMO becoming a Title Contender is a possibility even if right now it's not expected by most. Let's just get thru the season and see how this team develops. I'm not worried about any of that right now. IMO this should be a good team and i've laid out the reasons why above. You either have good talent or you don't. The Networks have determined that the Knicks have GOOD TALENT.
