I posted these stats in another thread and I think it's highly likely we'll see a return to a higher assist % from Rose. Rose has always passed more to guys he respects and trusts and I believe he feels strongly about Melo, KP and Lee.
Shows he can pass when he wants to so that's the good news. Still, I hope Jeff hornacek watches film like this with rose and tells him why he should not be jumping on most of these passes. Might be time to enlist clyde in that session too.

I'm not really gonna stress over it. Funny how no one really had any complaints when his team won 62 games, went to the ECF's and he was winning an MVP. It's a quirk but didn't stop him from being highly successful. I'd be more concerned with him working on his 3pt jumper.

You could look at what he needs to improve or you could look at how much pressure he puts on a defense. The Knicks have had nothing like that from a point guard for a long time.

He jumps to pass on purpose, to put pressure on the defense. Rose has the mind of a guard who attacks first, then pass. He's a combo type of guard and not a traditional John Stockton or Mark Jackson type. He's more Russell as in todays athletic PG's. So Rose jumps and passes in control, to bait the defender to jump or move. Yes, it gets him into trouble sometimes, but it's been more positive than negative. Rose is not going to change that part of his game.....But in half court you will see more traditional passes, without jumping.....At least thats what we hope. But when he attacks, you want him thinking about that rim. Thats how he will reach his expectations, by attacking the defense......As long as his TO's are down, I'm happy.
For example, my coach in HS told the team we should never jump to block a jumpshot, unless it was me jumping, because I led the school in block shots. Some people just know how to make good plays, even if its not text book.
dude is an excellent basketball player. hes an attack guard who is certainly able to pass. the reason why he doesnt have higher assist numbers in chicago was because their offense was anemic and he needed them to score all the time. with the knicks he should be a better facilitator. im not worried about that. im worried about his knees and lack of explosiveness. but when it comes to the game of bball, he knows how to play
Enough with the circle jerk, Rose is not a great passer. Adequate at times, but inefficient for the most part.
His career average of 3 turnovers a game indicate he sucks at passing. Saw the entire video clip, made me cringe every time he jump passes.
Last 3 seasons assist to turnover ratio averaging 1.5 to 1 tell the whole story. His usage should be kept in check, and he should be relegated to opportunistic transition and pick and roll/pick and pop. He should not have free reign to dominate the ball if he continues to turn the ball over at a record clip, numbers are phucking terrible.

And since we're only discussing passing, I won't even delve into other advanced statistics like PER, or Win Shares, or probably the most embarassing Defensive Box Plus Minus (You guessed it, it's a negative number). Might make y'all all puke in your mouth.

Only reason, Rose looks to your guys eye test is we had this guy as our point the last couple seasons...

Addition by subtraction, but still doesn't make Rose a top flight option for a team in win now mode. Rose is still bottom middle to middle tier point guard simply by numbers:

He'll be gone after this season.

Well thank God you're not coaching the team!!! We all know Rose isn't a Pure PG. This isn't news to anyone. We also know that Rose has posted some awful advanced stats the last few years as he's been coming back from injury. If you choose to base everything on those stats when the guy clearly was dealing with the impact of his injuries then fine but I think you're going to end up being wrong about Rose.
Everyone knows that it takes time to fully recover from surgery. From everything that we've seen Rose is gradually getting stronger and with an offseason without any surgery he should be able to prepare properly and sharpen his skills. That preparation should help him to be more efficient along with the new coach, teammates and his own stated goal of being more of a passer this season.
What you're not addressing is how Rose can positively impact the team with his ability to draw defensive attention. He's a constant threat and that will create openings for the other players on the team that we didn't see in previous years. The ability to not only play faster but more aggressively even in the halfcourt.

Not sure how anybody can complain about Rose 1 yr contract. Imagine if he actually signs a longer deal next season to stay with his boy Noah.
Rose presence on the floor will open up space for everybody. When healthy, this is the most balanced team we've seen in a while.... And Rose will be the driver....its like a dream come true.
Then we get to see KPs growth at the same time.....melo coming off an Olympic high. Jennings has something to prove. Knick fans can now come out the closet....
