The Clintons are smug and come across as smug..Nothing they did showed any humility..They wanted you to accept their way on their terms..She wanted you to vote for her after calling you deplorable..Bill was smug enough to want to take a shot at Obamacare while Obama was still there..

The deplorable comment was a really bad mistake but it pales in comparison to many of the things Trump said. Perhaps she didn't show humility but did Donald Trump ever show any?

People on the right hated the Clintons for decades and their margin of error was razor thin..They got out to vote for Teump who had zero ground game..That was a passionate turnout..They weren't voting for Trump but were voting against the Clintons..And that coupled with the lack of passion from progressives..

In the RCP polling, the 2 way and 4 way polling looked very similar. Are you sure Johnson took much more votes from Hillary than from Trump?

In a couple of battleground state Johnson vote was greater than the difference of victory..

Sorry Bonn, I have been trashing Hillary from day 1. I have never supported her or wanted her, anymore than I supported Trump. What will happen now is all kinds of finger pointing, but this was an anti establishment race. The people have spoken and centrist politicians suck. The Dems should have rallied behind Bernie but didn't have the brains to do so.

In the long term this maybe the best thing that could have happened to the dems, if they can at least hear the message now, because they clearly weren't able to earlier. It may also be a bad thing for Republicans. They can only unite when they have something to root against.

We will see.

You are probably right about Hillary being a felon. It's also possible that Trump could be a felon. I guess we will know in as early as December. Hopefully not because Pence seems to be even worse.

1) Election template - level of personal insults and outrageous lies with no regard to whether the world knows the truth is not being told is going to be the new template for winning elections. And yes, politicians have always done this on some level, but not to this level. This new premium put on being "non-pc" just means we're going back to accepting that it's now OK to disrespect people who aren't you.

2) Validating Wikileaks - make no mistake, wikileaks and foreign entities just successfully influenced a U.S. presidential election. We have just further empowered Wikileaks to impact future elections and U.S. policy. People who were cheering Wikileaks on because they targeted the "enemy," we've just opened the door for wikileaks copycats and don't count on these folks always targeting democrats. This is not good for our country and you can't pour the spilled milk back in the carton now.

3) FBI - back in the J. Edgar Hoover days the FBI was used to settle scores and do the bidding to destroy enemies. That letter from two weeks ago is the first step to going back to those days. And if you don't think based on his past business history that Trump isn't going to use the governmental resources to quiet his critics and take down his enemies, you're crazy. If you were uncomfortable with Clinton's lack of transparency, get used to even less transparency.

4) Make America Great Again - we all know what this was code for and we know the direction is country is now going back to. Just like in the 50's, things were wonderful for certain people, others caught h*ll, and evidently a lot of people are OK with this. It's no coincidence that Trump was the candidate of choice for the KKK and other similar groups.

5) Facts do not matter - a large segment of voters decided facts don't matter. Just tell me what I want to hear. Lie to me. As much as you (and I) may not like Clinton, she has been investigated by more people about more "scandals" than any candidate in history and it resulted in nothing. But that doesn't matter because "facts" now don't matter. Just invent your own "facts."

6) Voter suppression - this election validated the success of voter suppression efforts. I think this country was about allowing more eligible voters to make their voices heard, not devising strategies to make it difficult for "certain people" to vote. Again, its part of "Making America Great Again," going back to the days of poll taxes and literacy tests to vote.

The country will survive this no matter how bad Trump is, but it's gonna be a wild ride (see GW Bush X 10).
