I know you are kidding about trying it here but it is scary as it is exactly where the "progressive" movement will end up if its left to them. The progressive movement is lead by the communist radicals who think they can make it work with another try. I wonder how is Venezuela doing these days? Oh right it looks alot like the final days of the USSR. The policies are a death sentence for the people.

The saddest part is the failure of communism is not even taught in schools.
They do not learn about the millions murdered by Stalin, Lenin, Mao, Castro, Chavez and others. Instead these leaders are glorified! OMG!

Keep on telling about the things you have seen first hand. Perhaps one day, people will understand how damn good the American ideal was and still is.

What are some examples of proposals that progressives are making that are dangerously close to communism?

Horrors such as free universal health care! I hope we all never have to not worry about not being able to afford health care if we get ill- fear of death due to lack of money is the founding, cherished value that America was built on!

WOW of course on the surface free healthcare sounds great to you. It is intended to. What they don't tell you is what happens when $300mil to half a billion citizens inevitably get sick. You've had a taste of what happens with obamacare. Doctors speading 40hours a week fighting insurance companys who refuse to pay and give approval. 40hrs they used to spend with their patients face to face. Now you don't even know who your doctor is. You have to deal with a different one every visit. Explain your entire medical history every single time. Conflicting diagnosis and suggestions etc. If you are lucky to see your doctor you wait a long all day as he rushes through several patients before getting to you. Then he prescibes meds that insurance no longer covers. Followup and Appointments and procedures are no longer scheduled on the spot. They tell you they will call you and then never do. You call them and get a voicemail or constant busy signal. You are forced to go their in person. All the good doctors wind up quitting obamacare leaving patients with 2nd/3rd class doctors and care.

Of course obamacare is only the beginning. "Free" healthcare has so seriously ravished South American countries that they put off major surgeries for the following year. Here people lose it if they are told they have to wait a month. "Free" Healthcare is only one aspect of socialism that puts an entire nation in trillions of dollars in debt.

Of course "free" healthcare sounds great nut like gonygo said. Keep believing that if it makes you all warm and fuzzy inside.

Hmmm.. This exactly hove healthcare was in USSR.
Is it strange that the same solutions lead to the same results...

You realize the UK and many European countries have universal health care don't you? Are they Soviet style countries?! But, yep keep swallowing the line that it's Communism and not basic human decency

Very good. We are even better - we are treating uninsured same as insured. No one is denied the basic medical services in US.
It was this way before Obamacare, and is this way after, and will be like this regardless it will be repealed or not.
All this debate is about who is getting taxed to pay not about help or not help.
Ans it is about how to keep quality of services good and prices affordable.
If you know some examples when medical help is denied because someone is uninsured please provide a link.

You are peddling fiction..Obamacare has slowed the rise of healthcare cost, not increase it..Take some time to look it up...Obamacare has not compromised the quality of healthcare as you have suggested..Why would that happen and where has it happened??

Patients won't be denied entrance to an emergency room but people cannot get selective surgery..People has ha to sell their homes to pay for medical procedures in the past before Obamacare..So you are making it sound like all have access to medical care which is a bit misleading..

May be a bit... and if some people have house and jobs why they are not insured? Stupid or greedy?
As per Obamacare the premiums are rising and drugs cost is rising also.
So I do not know what you are talking about.
Obamacare get 10+ millions uninsured people on-board which is good and hopefully they will be getting quality care.
It still depends on plan they will take from exchanges.
Obamacare or not it is insurance and it cost money for premiums and deductibles.
I do not care who introduced it. If it will be good I am all for it, it it will stink I am for replacing it with something better.

Healthcare system is difficult to tackle. No doubt.
But it is all financial issues so they will be resolved this way or another.
It will be much better if this process will be not a political trading card.
But I guess drugging this into dirty political game is inevitable.

The thing that you are calling "trickle down" is going on for a couple of thousand years and called human civilization progress.
You may like it or not but this is how it goes.
Obviously one can try to swim against the flow of the river but usually it does not last long.

on the topic of why so many white women voted for hillary, i read this post that i needed to share:

The reason most white women voted against Hillary is the same reason most white men voted against Hillary: misogyny. Women are just as misogynistic as men are. Those who think that women can't be misogynists do not understand what misogyny is.

(from a quoted post: They are happy with their position in life and feel threatened by women who succeed in traditionally male positions. They believe they may have to do the same but they prefer being "taken care of.")

This is exactly right. This is why one doesn't see the same sort of solidarity among women as one does among members of other minority groups. Many women are very conflicted about feminism and equality. They accept what patriarchy has taught them about their own inferiority because it gives them a feeling of security.

(from a quoted post: Many women absolutely hate Hillary but cannot tell you why - or more likely they will not tell you why)

The idea of being lead by a woman makes many women extremely uncomfortable because it challenges their notions of men's and women's roles in society. Rather than admit that they have been held back by society's sexism, they would prefer to think that women are naturally inferior. A woman who is the equal of men in ambition, intelligence, capability, and courage seems completely wrong to them: there must be something unnatural and evil about the woman that she is hiding from them.

Why woman who think that being mother, wife, the staple of family, and symbol of love and care are inferior to women who challenge man in work-space, business, sports, culture, and politics? Why woman cannot be both and be proud of it? Both sexism and feminism are things that set man and woman back and dragging society sideways.
Woman is equal to man to choose whatever she wants to be in life. Any culture which put limitations on woman this way or another is limiting its potential in a half.
How stupid is this....

Briggs, this thread is basically dead. I also was raised a Democrat but this year I finally dropped any connection to it.
I have stated I don't think Trump is perfect, regarding his policies. Mostly I like them though.
I mentioned I'm not for Nuclear energy and I hope that Trump plans on cutting government spending to help his tax cuts. Not one person that I remember addressed that. And as usual, Holfresh just keeps posting hate (but I give him credit for the beautiful pics). I understand that some people might like Hillary, but those that like her talk about her like she is perfect. I don't understand it.

Either discuss or just move on. Hillary lost, and handily. Thank God.

There is a reason Trump got elected. There is a reason for the Brexit. There is a reason that the next French President will be Marine Le Pen. Italy probably leaves the EU and others follow.
The globalists (thank God) are finally losing control.

holfresh @ 11/24/2016 3:59 PM
You guys still don't get it..This isn't about party politics..It's about right and wrong...Trump has stolen from the working man/woman, people working for him..It's people like Trump why our taxes are so high..They don't pay their fair share...Sexual abuse because he can get away with it, Walking in on naked 15 year olds at his beauty pageant to "inspect them"..He brags about this on the radio...Stiffing contractors..He has a child rape case on Dec. 16th, I won't miss this...The hate for Muslims, Jews, dark skinned people...The sudden rise and empowerment of nationalist and white supremacist groups are coincidental, right...His top advisor is openly promoting Satan, just a few day ago..He is trying to openly profit from the Presidency and no one cares now...Just a few weeks ago you had a problem with pay for play and now????I tell my kids do the right thing in life, how do I explain to them that I voted for Trump, a man who does everything I tell them not to do and he is proud of it..What do you tell your kids???

oh stop your whining. only losers whine. you might as well have a twitter account and go whine there. i hear thats an effective way to campaign.

kids dont matter.
neither does racism.
neither does sexism.
trump will get me a tax break...thats why i voted for him.
trump will bring back my job...thats why i voted for him.
trump will get rid of "them"...thats why i voted for him.
trump will fix that darn pothole on my block...thats why i voted for him.[/greenfont]

the rest is all noise. at the core, most people voted for him based purely on how he will help them individually. they could care less about what heppens to everyone else.
