College scout for the Spurs.

I suppose if you going to pick an organization to get started in a post playing career, spurs are a good choice.
Headline is Monty Willams as president of basketball operations.

What happened to him? Did he get injured or was it that the league figured him out or did he just lose his confidence?

Injury. Real bad. Had nerve damange to his shooting arm and then surgery, then surgery on his hip. With no contract, and shooting form never the same form from before surgery.
He got a 3 year $20mil deal from Toronto so he should be good. Smart kid with a degree form Stamford I can imagine he might have been good with his money and other things to fall back on.
Perhaps SAS sees him as potential exec material. He demonstrated a good image, was media savvy with a strong outward personality.
With few TV jobs available, this could be a good path for him.

As a second round pick the kid did real well for himself but injuries are part of the game as well. I root for exknicks!

You would think that those qualities would've made him a shoe-in with us as a college scout/PR guy. That magnetic personality of his could be useful in luring undrafted guys to NYK as opposed to other destinations with a more proven record of developing talent.

Awesome news about Monty. A great guy who deserves better than what he has had to deal with.

News to me that Fields had a shooting arm, but good luck to him.

I don't know (or would want to know) what type of surgery you would need to restore a "parabola jumpshot".

Anyway, his main contributions as a Knick were the Landry and Andy show, and his pregame nerd ritual with Je-remy-sus Lin. Good times. Glad he's hopefully set for life. College scout. That has to be a great gig, especially with SanTone. Travel all over to games and camps and March Madness with the best seats, type up snarky reports on your Iphone. Just hope it never morphs into a job as a shooting coach. He seems like the type who could go exec or possibly assistant coach.

Have a Rautins thread in our future, Nalod?

Boy was I wrong about him. Fields played so smart his rookie season, then went hollywood, and got hurt.

I think we all were, man. He's one of the few Knick rookies that I believed in (potential-wise) and felt connected to. Even after TOR, I felt like he'd be a great 15th guy on the roster. I sort of feel that his personality would be a plus inside any locker room. Glad to hear that he's moved on though.

Fields definitely landed on his feet, and he married the hot GF! There was a debate here wether or not she would stick around, lol.

Yeah, he did but I kind of wanted him to make another run as a player before hanging it up. Then again, maybe this is the way he wanted it to go. Either way, I'm glad he's found another way to remain in the league.

As for the girlfriend, I'm not surprised. There was 24 million reasons to stick around for a model that never truly made it, lol. For Landry's sake, I hope he was thinking with the right head...and got a prenup, lol.

Sounds like there is enough for them to both make out ok if he didn't get one. If she was around before the contract was signed its different IMO than if she popped up out of nowhere as soon as the ink was dry on his big deal.
