No! Willy is not a CENTER .. Willy is a pure natural PF .. the same about KOQ, Quinn is a pure natural PF which the Knicks has never let Quinn play the PF position last year and this year.
It reminds me of PF-David Lee when he was a Knicks we made David Lee play the center position for 3 years straight. And we made 5.8 PG-Nate Robinson play the SG position for 4 years straight SMH
Willy a 10 and KP a 5? Time to put down your crack pipe, bruh. Settle down nah. It'll be ok when the nice men in their clean white coats arrives.

For a couple of best buddies playing in EU together to end up together on the Knicks is simply too cool not to root for. The best part is Willy is looking like a real stud and a high BB IQ player. His skills also compliment KP. Willy is a pure under the rim player and brings a great physical blue collar approach, which KP is the monster on help defense and crashing the boards. They have a great inside/outside combo and could be frontcourt mates for a decade. Getting Willy in that draft from Phili goes down as a great move for Phil. Fingers crossed on this kid, but there is nothing but love at this point. Having the support of KP and seeing him succeed has clearly galvanized Willy. Awesome stuff all around.

He is true value. We didn't have to tank a season or trade a valuable commodity to acquire a lotto pick in order to get him. By the end of the season hr may be worth a lottery pick in return. Or even another teams all-star player who is trying to rebuild. Not that we will trade him, but these are options from hitting on a 2nd rounder.
Our scouting department has been quality this off season. Randle, Baker, Kuz, Willie, Plum all seem NBA ready. And only one of them was drafted (in the 2nd round).
Chandler wrote:so with everything we've seen thus far, where would he have been drafted this year (assuming all preseason stuff was part of his draft tape)?
end of first/beginning of the second

Willy Hernangomez compliments Noah's performance perfectly, the more they play together i see their rythm of talent becoming better than Noah & Gasol.
I do not know where all this crazy tandem HYPE for KP & Willy are coming from other than being optimist because the two didnt play in the same lineup on their previous teams. Plus like i said KP talent has not showed to be a inside threat on offense or defense, yes KP can rebound yes KP can block shots, No KP cant box-out no KP cant screen no KP cant throw a direct lob pass after grabbing a defensive-rebound.
No KP presence has never come into the game to help his teammates outscore opponents .. not one game last year or in the preseason game.
Willy Hernangomez is the MAN .. ROY !!!

The NBA today is about spacing. KPbcan knock down 3s opening up space for the center or guards or forwards. Willie doesn't provide thats spacing quality at the 4. Putting Willie at the 4 would mean he would have to guard on the perimeter vs todays stretch 4s.

KP were no help to Lopez in the paint last season .. PF Quinn were suppose to tandem with Lopez in the starting lineup lastseason. But we BOOOOED KP at the draft so Phil or Dolan put KP in the starting lineup day 1
Yeah yeah yeah. I been watching NBA and Knicks since the championship years, too.
Starting 5s with the versatility to play on the perimeter is a facet of the current NBA game. Our unicorn is a prototype example of this, with a handle and mid-range game, too. Considering his desire/focus/determination, it's only a matter of time before he develops a post game as well.
His role on this team is NOT to dominate the paint. That's so 90s NBA. If that's what we wanted, we would have taken OK4.
Look, I get that you value boards above all else. It has been a glaring weakness for the Knicks for quite a long time. But a rookie needs to have a chance to add weight and skills to his repertoire. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how our unicorn develops down low. Heck, he already added 15-20lbs to his lower half this off-season.
BTW, I think you're the only fan I have yet come across who sees little long-term promise in KP. The ONLY one.

He's getting preseason minutes as a 5, and is looking to win the job as the backup 5.fishmike wrote:Kemet wrote:fishmike wrote:BRIGGS wrote:Given where Willy was picked--he might be the best draft pick value in the last 20 years. I like to give the Knicks credit where its fully deserved. I wouldve selected Norman Powell and really had no idea about Willy H. Willy is a BIG time keeper. I see the future as KP at 4 and Willy at 5. What we will have to do is piece players around those two over the next 2-3 years. Hopefully Baker can show he can shoot and finish. I think he can play some 1 guard. This has been my hope all along, even before I really saw him play.
ROY !!!
much better fit next to KP than Noah. Willy is a 5, not a 4.Willy is a 4 in the NBA.
Willy speed movement n IQ are somewhat like Duncans a better 4 than 5
Willy will run when Noah starts a fastbreak .. in the Boston game KP nor Melo ran the two times Noah started the fast breakBtw... 5 = center.
In the NBA preseason games Willy showed repeatedly he could cover and dominate both forward spots on either side of the court.
As a coach who have an experience Top-3 center in Noah, plus a upcoming rookie center in Plumlee (need NBA playing-time for growth), what position would u play Willy at during his rookie season ???The NBA today is about spacing. KPbcan knock down 3s opening up space for the center or guards or forwards. Willie doesn't provide thats spacing quality at the 4. Putting Willie at the 4 would mean he would have to guard on the perimeter vs todays stretch 4s.
You said it best .. the NBA does a lot of spacing, which they did back in the daze, only dum opponents fall for it.
Its nice to have a PF shoot the 3 ball once every 2 or 3 games (Horry), not once or twice each quarter (Dirk). You can count all the 3 Balls Duncan shot in his career with one hand. How many rings he got?
Im trying to imagine Oakley shooting a 3 ball AGGY
