Last night's statline for these two players-- both on one-year audition contracts-- indicate that we can expect more of the same from them.
I have said repeatedly that Rose cannot take more shots than KP6.... and he took 17 shots to KP6's 13. Rose also had 1 assist and 4 turnovers.
UNACCEPTABLE
Jennings shoots 1-7, including 0-4 from the 3-point line
UNACCEPTABLE
There was zero-- zip, nada, zilch-- offensive cohesion and no discernible triangle being run last night because guess what: neither rose nor ennings know how to participate in it. they are merely drive and kick, inefficient guards. this sort of play TORPEDOES THE OFFENSE AND HURTS MORALE
UNACCEPTABLE
hornacek looked very disappointed and sad last night-- why? he may have realized that
YOU CAN'T SIT BETWEEN TWO STOOLS
either run the triangle with players who actually can or scrap it and allow these two clowns to "lead" the team to the lottery.

Running triangle with Rosennings or let them do what they used to do will have the same outcome.
So as soon as we have them for a year why not to try to enhance their games?
We are losing nothing with this 2.
This year outcome is Melo and Phil problem as their windows are closing.
Knicks are not going anywhere this year anyways.
So it should be used to develop young players and continue with establishing winning culture.
Wasn't a good showing by Rose. He has some good drives for layups which we haven't had in years. But he turned the ball over way to much in the first half and had straight tunnel vision.
I get he is trying to attack and out pressure on the defense early. But I was hoping he would look to create more then he did.
Its game one vs the defending champs in Cleveland. So we will see what adjustments JH decides.
Lance will eventually loose his mins to Holiday & Kuz if he doesn't step his game up.
And y is it that players like Lee always come to NY and loose their shooting touch?

i agree, but as you know, a majority of pollyanna posters predict a playoff run with this team. i have said 38 wins is likelier. this year should be about kp6's development, and grooming kuzminskas, hernangomez, and baker to be able to become established.

RUN THE TRIANGLE already. . . will you, for Gawd's sake (!)
Or more precisely: LEARN the Triangle, so that you can run it . . .

there is little evidence that rose is coachable, or jennings for that matter. rose has no business taking 17 shots and getting just 1 assist. if he takes more than 12-13 shots a game that will translate to losses. and i am not even talking about their defense which is just horrible to begin with.
"Unacceptable" means you bench them and don't look back.
Is that what you're advocating?

Thinking that investing 90 million in two starters should equal a stealth tanking season after 1 "jayvee" game.
UNACCEPTABLE
Thinking 3 rookies with 1 game of "jayvee" NBA experience should be the focal point of this season.
UNACCEPTABLE
Constantly opining about the first actual real, legitimate offensive threat the franchise has had at PG in anyone's distant memory, while still wearing your moral papacy.
UNACCEPTABLE
Word jerking yourself into oblivion over a player most of the media has reported could become SMOTY in Jennings.

this guy has zero clue but we have been seeing this for years now.
It was Rose's 2nd live action of the year. He was sloppy with the ball but you also got a glimpse of his ability to get to the rim and how it can help us. When KP learns to follow his drives and we space the floor better for kick outs those attacks to the basket will be gold. It takes time, but you can see some really like to talk alot about things they have no clue about. This is a follow up because DK looked like an idiot in the Rose thread. Typical.
This is such BS!!! To assess the potential of this team after one bad game is beyond ridiculous. Even more so when you know darn well that this team played its first game with the entire starting lineup. They simply didn't have the playing time to be more prepared before the season. That doesn't mean they won't eventually get things worked out.
As for the solution being more Triangle, that's also related to the fact that Rose wasn't there but also due to Hornacek not wanting to install so much that the team was too far ahead of Rose. He planned to use the days between game one and game two as a mini camp.
We have a very smart coach and MUCH more talent this year! They will eventually get things tightened up. They will eventually develop better chemistry as well. PATIENCE!!!
Again this is Rose's first game back playing with a totally new group it's going to take time ... at least look at the warriors that might be the softest team I've ever seen in my life ... spurs owned them from tip off . We at least kept it respectable for one half vs the best team on planet earth the defending champs ...I'm excited to see this team gel and have a rematch vs the cavs .
My take it was good to see rose finally healthy running like he did in his MVP season .
Melo is melo
KP is a beast who is the best player we have, we need to get him the most touches / the ball should touch his hands every offensive possession he will be dominant this year

Every Pg we have had since phil came with triangle has looked like a d league player.
I can almost promise you that if we had KYRIE instead of rose, he would be just has bewildered as rose Jennings, calderone, grant, or any fckng guard we have had.
No one cuts, no one screens, they just get loss and start shooting mid range shots. Every single pg we have has said the time and time again, it's a difficult system to run, especially as a pg.

What will get old faster, the bold caps or the Triangle preaching? Maybe we could start a pool...
I was more disappointed in Jennings, Rose hasnt played with the team as long. Jennings was doing more to set up his teammates in preseason. Seems to feel he can jack up any shot he wants when playing with the second unit. I know Hornacek wants him to be a 6th man. If thats the case, and this keeps up, Id rather have Baker come off the bench at PG, Jennings at SG.
You make a player like Jennings a PG/6th man, he is going to be calling his number more than he will be looking to set up his teammates. Baker will make sure that Jennings isnt the only one getting looks at the rim.
Rose didnt do much to impress, but he looks fast. Considering the last few seasons, I will take it. Better that Rose needs coaching, not rehab.

Yeah, Malcolm whats up with you and the triangle? Every post you make is about the triangle.
I'm always leery of knick "fans" who predict doom and gloom and can't wait to start threads to proclaim they're right. This is just one game. Geez!
Besides, do people remember what our point guard situation looked like last season. Give it some time. Let's see where we are after 20 games.
