we then endured mediocrity until we got one-year rentals of broken down players that culd not last a season and got spanked and exposed in the playoffs. a fool's gold season led by a tin-plated coach woodson and roster. that plan was scrapped when dolan realized he didn't know anything about basketball and brought in jackson.
now jackson is trying to build something lasting-- not rebuild on the fly like isiah (with walsh we'll never know what might have panned out), and now you want to scrap things again.

Well it's just projections on the outcome if they don't make the playoffs..Let's say that MSG is a publicly traded company with a board of directors and stock holders..Dolan poured over a billion dollars into Madison Square Garden in the last few years..They were profitable and the stock took a nice ride higher before Phil got there...Now, with the Knicks being the company's primary earner, they have lost money the last three quarters, with earning on deck again Nov.4th, viewership is down, less demand for tickets, less money from sponsors, less people watching MSG Network...Do you really think they care about people liking the coach or rookie role players with no draft picks or Phil teaching the triangle??

cmon on dude, like 65 players have been on this roster since phil got here, and every yr they're considered rentals..even when you sign guys for multiple season, your traded them after a few months.

Building a team from scratch is not a 1 or 2 or even 3 year process depending on where you started from. Next year the PG position will pan out.
why you think that, i mean that's the one position that down right hates the triangle, and if rose or Jennings doesn't work out, and they walk away bitching about like the other 10 pgs we have had, in 3 yrs.. Who's going to be encourage to sign here to play in a system that's more difficult to grasp then Chinese math
the triangle doesn't require orchestrating point guards like paul or nash or rondo, nor does the triangle require scoring point guards like rose or dinglebury or isiah thomas. you need guys with length to defend like the bulls had with ron harper or bulldogs who can hit a corner three like fisher. you're putting the cart before the horse. so while there are plenty of those sorts who may not thrive in the triangle there are other guards who might have the requisite skills to do great. somebody like george hill would be ideal. jackson will probably look for such a player with next year's draft.
anybody in college or overseas who fits that mold?

i have been saying that the knicks are about a 38-win team, and that at least rose and jennings are one-year auditions, which reduces long-term futility while the knicks continue the long, slow process of building a champion.
in other words, phil is right. yes you want to win but not at the expense of making the team better in the longer term. otherwise we are back to the pathetic, tin-plated, empty calorie woodson era.

Y though? We have a stable and promising cap situation. We have a promising potential star in KP. We have 4 rookies that look like they can play in this league and may form a nice role playing core for the future. All while not having a draft pick this past off season. We have all our draft picks going forward. And everyone likes the head coach and feels he is a quality one.

So you want to go to war with a non scoring pg in an era where most of top players in the league are pg's. If you can't run guys like curry , kyrie, westbrook ragged, and get them in foul trouble, then your going to watch them light you up every night.
When you question the amount of shots rose takes, i understand how you're looking at things, more so from a traditional position, where the pg should be more nash/stockon than Kyrie or rose. This is the era of the guards, and they need to score and put pressure on opposing guards.
The top pg's in the league are suspect defenders, they may get a few steals here and there, but they aren't locking anyone down.
Rose is suppose to be Melo's scoring side kick, while KP is suppose to have a more Pippen/tony K role. If JH is allowed to run his Suns system ALL THE TIME, he has the almost pefect roster to do it with, but he's being force to run the triangle at least part of the time, and it's fck'd up
