To go on the break time to time.
You look at our team and we look like a team that is rushing and trying to do things so quickly that everything is out of place.
Historically in the league the teams that run or have great success at high tempo are young and extremely athletic. Outside of KP none of our starters or core players are in their prime or young enough to thrive in a system like what Phoenix ran under Hornachek.
What I'm seeing is a team that is trying to make things happen too fast, making mistakes on offence and then not being able to defend at this pace.
Believe it or not I have the complete 180 opinion vs the media. Phil Jackson needs to step in. He needs to get Horny to see that this team can not play at the same pace that his Suns teams did. They need to slow down make it a half court game and that's where they have strengths. Melo or KP in the post. Rose in a high screen and roll. Noah's screens and passing. Lees shooting ability.
We should run the same game plan as last year. Last years team didn't have a Rose or 2nd year KP to close games in the 4th alongside Melo. We can easily win 45 or more games this year if we slow the game down and utilize the strengths of this team. The sooner Hornachek realizes there is no Eric Bledsoe, Isiah Thomas, and that young athletic group he had in Phoenix- the better it will be.
Unpopular opinion considering the hate for the Triangle but we barely run it. If we slowed down and ran Triangle and more half court offense this team will be far more ready on the defensive end and play with an identity that actually fits it talent.
You don't have to RUN in order to run a Quick Hitting Spread/PnR offense. I don't think with this talent that you should limit them to Triangle, which actually doesn't feature PnR/PnP, which is the best offense for these players!!! They all work great off screens, so why are we seeing fewer screens attempting to run the Triangle?
I believe they should PUSH THE BALL, start faster with early spread looks and PnR/PnP plays and only then should they look to get into Triangle sets.
