There is something in the air and it feels like fun.
Jennings was a key cog in New York's successful comeback effort over Brooklyn on Wednesday night. He had a season-high 11 assists, emerging as a starring attraction in the second half. As Porzingis' stellar play (21 points) sparked an offensive onslaught in the fourth quarter, Jennings was there setting him up again and again. Together, the two helped bury the Nets.
Jennings and Porzingis are an odd pairing, given how well they've taken to one another on the court. One could argue that Jennings has never exhibited this type of playmaking in his career. He's always been more of an offensive spark, known for his scoring more than his pinpoint passing. Porzingis has helped bring such versatility out of him. What's more, Jennings plays with a certain level of swagger and attitude. He's much more demonstrative than the younger Porzingis. But somehow and someway, the two have connected. The veteran guard's 4.9 assists per game lead the team.
The Knicks saw flashes of brilliance from Porzingis last season, but there's no doubt playing with a point guard who eagerly looks to find him makes him that much more of an offensive threat. It's been fun to watch as the team continues to find its way.

The chemistry early on is definitely evident. I have to be honest, i really like Jennings. I want to keep him long term. I am still up in the air about Rose. But Jennings is a must-keep either as a 6th man or eventual starter. Given his age and growing relationship with Porzingis, he is a good long-term investment. It is all about finding pieces that fit for the future and building around KP. Jennings seems to fit the mold.

The numbers show that the Jennings-Porzingis pairing is a work in progress, which is understandable after just seven games.
Porzingis is shooting 7-for-19 on passes from Jennings thus far, including 2-for-7 from beyond the arc, per NBA.com tracking stats. For comparison’s sake, Porzingis has hit 12 of his 20 shots off of passes from Rose, including five of his nine 3-point attempts after a Rose pass.
I would argue that the shots attempts from Jennings passes, seem more clutch

Jennings hustle on defense was game changing. KP starting hitting shots he was missing earlier. Some fed from Rose were "In and outs", then KP got hot and they dropped. Not taking anything away from Jennings. Melo got hot and had some "Bernard king" moments the other nite. Was hitting some tough shots.
Nets are not a very good team, but its the NBA and all wins are good wins.

BJ has shown this kind of ability is flashes before. I don't know why this is so surprising. I posted videos from his Detroit days that showed he did have this kind of thing in him.
