Can we beat any of this teams ? And if we do L or 3 games, we re out of playoffs this season again ?
Hawks are doing great this year, Blazers are mediocre and Hornets are tough. I guess the Blazers game is the most winnable, but that doesn't guarantee a win! I'm still hopeful we get our act together.

This team is winning 35 games
1-2 is my guess but if we get hot against the Hawks we can surely win. We are really inconsistent but that is to be expected, will take us a while to jell. Unfortunately, I don't see us being bad enough to get a decent pick in the draft. But then again, we have been way more healthy than I though.
Anyone have an idea about the individual matchups?
We are definitely better at home than the road (4-2 vs 1-5). There's that. Also as much talk about offense as there has been the Knicks have the 13th best O rating in the league.
It's the defense. 29th in the league in D rating. We tend to play better defense at home.
Just won't get it done unless we improve on defense. Hornachek's stubborness with the lineups is frustrating. When we have Melo at the 4, Holiday at the 3, it gives us more speed on defemse and offense. I can't see our defense improving too much so long as Melo keeps playing 3 and KP the 4. Just don't close out on shooters well or stay in front of their man.
I started watching the second half while drinking at a bar with a non knick fan. But from the limited time I actually watched the game, I saw KP at the 5, and players where driving by him for easy buckets. Seems like when the small ball lineup doesn't score, it exposes our defense, because fast teams use our misses as fast breaks.....guess whos back there guarding the rim? Melo too slow, and KP isn't as agile as Noah. So that lineup has to score buckets, which means melo and kp can guard half court sets more and less fast breaks ...also KP needs to get lower to improve his lateral quickness on defense. As his legs get stronger, this should improve. Melos knees are too old now.... but kp is very young.

It's good to start the night out right.
And yes to all of the above. KP/Rolo seemed to guard the rim nicely last year but KP hasn't shown the same thing, can't tell if he has regressed or if it's just early.

Rolo was a lane clogger. KP had an easier time being the help defender on the way Rolo funneled players. Noah is a different defender. KP to me seems to protect the rim better when he is with Willy.
